Of course it is. Mind you I'm also wondering why the locals have a penchant
for wading into the water ( the ones who haven't changed)when any bit of
water in that area is almost guaranteed to have Alligators in it. I've
canoed up a river with Alligators but I never felt the urge to even stick a
finger in the water.

Ah! But the locals probably ain't worried as much about the alligators as a
tourist/visitor would be.

Oh no the locals respect Alligators very much, particularly if the river is
at the foot of their garden. They've even been known to concede a hole at
golf when their ball lands at the feet of one :-)
