For over a 16 months I have accessed Silver Surfers through Outlook
Express. I am on Freeserve anytime dial up but not anymore the service
seems to have been withdrawn. I have gone through web-search to post this
message in the hope that someone can instruct me what to do. I get this
message:
Account: news.freeserve.net
Server: news.freeserve.com
Protocol: NNTP
Port: 119
Who ever helps me please try to put it into very simple terms as I am
not a techi. THANK YOU.

Try this (which is still the freeserve server without any freeserve or
wanadoo groups included)
In Outlook Express go Tools/Accounts/News/Add/News
Type a name(wellnice) then your e-mail address, then type news.svr.pol.co.uk
Then download the groups.
Might be poss to amend your existing details, and just change the server
name.

You could try *nntp.aioe.org* wellnice. They are free and carry
uk.people.silversurfers and loads of other groups. I believe that they
limit the number of posts you can make in a 24 hour period, but you can
certainly lurk in the groups. I use it as an emergency back up, in case
the plusnet server or news.individual.net go down.
