It did but it's had a few relapses and seems to go up and down every few
days for reasons I can't fathom.

Sometime between midnight Friday and 1 am on Saturday I suddenly lost
synch for no apparent reason, got a resynch at a lowly 600 or so, and
since then d/l speed has nosedived under 500 again. :-( I'm hoping
things will improve after the weekend. This >3 day wait to get lost
speed back is a real pain. I think it's a daft system to introduce while
BT's dodgy old phonelines are so notoriously unreliable.

After mine recovered I've had quite a few days at 2800 kbps. Synch rate
varies between 4000 and 4760 kbps throughout the day. I don't think my
stable rate will ever get above 3000 kbps though, so I'm probably getting
the best I can now.

Perhaps you should consider leaving Sheffield and going to live here - very
little contention to worry about :-))
