Glad you had a lovely holiday Pam, sounds very interesting, I have never
visited that part of the country.
Have a nice relaxed sleep now and wake up nice and refreshed in the
morning.

It seems in 1915 the government decided our troops were losing the first
world war because they kept running out of ammo so they built a town some 8
miles long and two miles wide on the land between Longtown and Gretna on the
side of the Solway Firth. They got thousands of ladies (30 thousand,
actually!) to move there and spend their days creating the stuff they
needed. It was fascinating seeing the details of the town and what the
ladies did with raw cotton to turn it into Devil's Porridge - more normally
known as cordite.
At the moment I'm so tired I'm just going up the stairs to put my head down
but have left some pressies over there >>> for all of you. There's lots of
different chocolate [it's OK in V/L Splodge:))], oat cakes, freshly made
plum jam, some marmalade and some strawberry jam plus local bottled beer and
some local red and local white wines.
Never been sight seeing in the Border Country before but I can recommend the
area, it's really beautiful and full of interesting things to see. We intend
going back next year and seeing more of Hadrian's Wall, it's fascinating.
Looks like we've been in the best place for weather. Rain and wind overnight
but wherever we went during the day it was fine, could have been summer's
noreen...
|
Welcome home Pam glad you enjoyed your jolly days and thanks will have some
of
the jam please Ta ;-))))

Hehe, thought of you at Gretna in the Cadbury's Chocolate shop. There was a
tall chocolate fountain flowing in the middle of the shop and we looked at
each other and said "Splodge!"

Much as I love choccie, Pam, I don't like those choccie fountains. I watched
the special X**s edition of Vicar of Dibley a year or two back when Dawn
French dived into one - oh yuk:((((((

Glad to hear you and Ray had a nice break Pam and that the weather kept
fine for you during the day. Hadrian's Wall is on my must see list -
keeps getting longer that list so must try to do something positive about
it next year :D

Welcome home, glad the weather I sent down to the border arrived OK :-)

It did, Sandra, oh, it did! Thanks for your efforts:) One day we were out
and I asked if where I was pointing was Sandra's and Ray said it was. That
meant you were having some nasty rain!
The caravan site owner apologised for the rain and wind, bless him, so I
told him that we'd been in bed for it cos during the day wherever we went
had lovely weather!

days, it was great.
