donut...
I have been going through the files and folders on this PC. In My Docs
there are 3 icons which I do not understand -seems to be the symbol for

donut...

registry). I have clicked and gone to properties and find they all have the
same number - all created on the same date 20.1.06 but at different times,
all archive, all registration entries.
I have been deleting lots of accumulated 'rubbish' in readiness for the
transfer but I need advice before I do anything with these.
TIA

Tickettyboo...
You can send them to me by mail donut, if you like and I can give you an
idea of what they are. Or you can RIGHT click and open one in notepad and
copy and paste from here into here if you like. Just be careful not to
double click or to take the option to 'merge' them until you know what
they are

donut...
Should be coming down the shute now Boo.

Tickettyboo...
Okay, so this one had the filename cc_20060120_1034.reg, do you remember
saving anything from the registry? Been in the bikesheds around that time?

donut...
Short answer No

Been in the bikesheds around that time?

Qui.......moi??
I shall probably be booking up shortly though

( pmj just LOVES saving .reg files LOL)

donut...
But he knows what to save!

Other than that, maybe someone could tell us if an anti spyware prog saves
files like this and with a similar filename ? Maybe we have to find out
what created it before starting to save stuff from your poota ?( in case
its something untoward, though I don't think so)

For the techy minded folk this is what the file contents are, in text, it

donut...
Where *on earth* did you get all that Boo??
I have stopped scrolling.

Tickettyboo...
LOL it is what is inside just one of those files donut. I bunged it on the
web cos I would be drummed out if I posted that lot in here !
It is various keys in your registry ( or that were in your registry at
one time) I just right clicked on one and sent it to notepad, plain text
doesn't do any harm, unlike double clicking a .reg file and saying you
want to merge it into the registry - though that is ok if you know what it
is and actually want it in your registry.

From what others have said, it sounds like you have run a registry cleaner
type prog or anti spyware prog at some stage and it backed up the registry
keys before overwriting them.
Give it a while, and if no one disagrees with that, then maybe tomorrow
you can safely delete the files from your My Docs.
( ps , just had a message to say that our consultant agrees LOL)

Graham...
They are what you say there are. They can be deleted.

doesn't
seem to be any one particular reg key, but a sort of selection.

BunnyHare...
I have some of those files Boo. They are back up of the registry
created by one of the clean up programs but can't remember which at the
minute - possibly reg mechanic or ccleaner
Its certainly a program that asks if you want it to create a backup
before making changes

Any ideas anyone?

Jeff Gaines...
I wonder if it's a backup from something like Registry Mechanic after
it's done a cleanup?

donut...
Thank you Boo and all others for the help.
Could very well be CCleaner, I shall just leave it for now, and delete in a
day or two.

Tickettyboo...
Looks like it Jeff
