My fuel light came on yesterday, driving back after walking the mutt.
Are fuel station open today? I think I can get to my local one (about 5

That all depends on the area, doesn't it?
:-)
Round here, most (but not all) of them were shut on Xmas Day -
which was a bit of a bummer.
:-(
(a few were open, which they would have to be, otherwise we
wouldn't have been able to buy any Fuel, would we?)
& then luckily some more opened up yesterday (Boxing Day),
which means that we can get it cheaper again now (cos the more
Fuel Stations that are open, the more price competition there
is between them).
Today, pretty much all of them are open.

miles) but if it's closed I'm not sure if I'll make it back :-)

|
Two near us (Esso and Total) haven't closed at all over Xmas. Problem
is that they haven't got unleaded petrol.

Our supermarkets are open for the usual Sunday opening hours (10-00 'til
16-00)

So I don't s'pose you'd be able to make it up here to get
some Fuel then?
:-)
I could prolly bring you some down, if you get really desperate
for it, I expect?
Very reasonable Delivery Charges!
:-)
If you live right out in the sticks, where the Fuel Stations
don't Open on Xmas Day & Boxing Day & various other days over
the Festive Season, wouldn't it be a good idea to fill up,
before they all shut for the Holidays?

I remembered the turkey and stocked up with cigarettes, I can't
remember everything :-) It's funny as well how the second half of the
fuel tank empties a lot quicker than the first!
Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°5 +...
|
I don't think it does. It's just that the warning light comes on when
you've still 2 or 3 gallons left in the tank.
|
Rabbit...
|
Sheesh am I the only person ( I actually am amongst RL friends) who drives
on the top half of their tank ? :-)
Ali...
|
Now why did I have a vision of rabbit-ears sticking out the top of a tracked
& armoured vehicle?
|
BTW we once had a Renault 11 which appeared to do at least 100 miles on
fumes according to the fuel gauge
|
Anyway, I found their number on an old receipt and 'phoned and they are
working normal hours today so I should be OK.
Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°5 +...
|
I'd leave it 'til tomorrow myself - although I've just been to our
supermarket and it's veirtually empty. not many cars about on the roads
Rabbit...

That's what I don't understand about supermarkets opening on Boxing day (
and this year I believe some were open on C******s day). They don't get any
deliveries till after the holidays so if it can be stored on the supermarket
shelf why couldn't people have bought it earlier ?
Ali...
|
1. 'It' may be stored, not on the supermarket shelf, but in the supermarket
cold-store, with rather better preservation.
2. They didn't buy it earlier, because they had nowhere to store it, their
fridge being full of stuff that got eaten on C****** Day (or didn't get
eaten at all, being the normal contents of the fridge)
3. They could have bought it earlier, if they had realised it would be
needed.

Round here, many of the local Filling Stations have been taken over,
closed down & Re-Opened as "Tesco" Convenience Stores.
:-(
(That's like a mini-Supermarket sort of thing, but with fewer products
available & more expensive prices)
They always seem to get their stock ordering wrong, so if you go in
late on a Friday or Saturday evening (or Xmas Eve etc,) you can pick
up *loads* of bargains - they chuck out loads of Bakery type stuff
& Pies/Pasties etc, at 10 p per Item.
It's all reached its "Display until" Date, but is perfectly good
& will keep for several days (which is just as well, cos you can't
eat it all at once)!

either, even though the snow has all melted.
Rabbit...

Snow ? It was only supposed to be the east. Have they moved Sheffield ?

On the way from my sons at Royton near Manchester today , the snow came down
thick and fast ,and we thought we were going to have to turn back ,but
called at a shopping complex ,and the snow stopped and the sun came out. It
was unbelievable how quickly it changed ;-)))))

Similar here this morning.

You know what these forecasters are like. There was a covering of snow when

And the press. This morning's headlines said * Blanket of snow to cover
whole country*. I'd guess that info didn't come from the Met Office :-)
|
we woke up. In fact I had to clear it off windscreen, rear and side
windows when I went out about 11-00, altough it had all melted from roads
and pavements by then. There was a bit of a blizzard about ½ hour ago and,
although it didn't settle on the ground, Fudge looked a bit like a snow cat
out there for a few minutes. Here's what it was like at 15-23, and it's
just trying to start snowing again atm.
Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°5...

And just look what's happened whilst I was having dinner:
Rabbit...

Oops but if was forecast. Mind you it's not forecast here and outside here
Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°5 +...

Not 'til Wednesday it wasn't !
Rabbit...
|
So your not in N, S E or W Yorkshire now ? 'Cos there's a flash weather
warning for those areas from the Met Office, effective from today

Never let the facts get in the way!!
Rabbit...
|
Well as I said earlier the headlines in the press today was *Whole country
under blanket of snow*:-)
Ali...
|
Did they specify which country?
|
Aries...
|
Huh! Not ere it ain't
Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°5 +...

Seems it stopped at Hastings then. :)

ROFL - yep I read that earlier - someone must have my share.
Rabbit...

Mine too and I was at the door about 10 o'clock and it's milder out there
now than it was about 7.30 :-)

We've had several flurries of Snow over the last couple of days
down here (in the deep South)...
Most of it hasn't laid on the Roads, but the gardens & parks (& roofs
of the houses) have got about 1/2 an Inch of Snow on them.
|
|
|
|
Even round here, we try to make sure not to get too low on Fuel,
cos there aren't very many Fuel Stations Open on Xmas Day
& Boxing Day.
