Pam the goose...
... lunch is late:(

Well, I've not slept too brilliantly for a few nights and today I only woke
at 10.30 cos I evidently caught up on what I'd missed.

So, lunch is late. However, put your bowl in front of the modem and you'll
find it fills with veg soup. Once it's finished flowing stay there ready cos
I actually managed to do multi-tasking today! There follows a toasted
oven-bottom roll:)))

There's joy in our house, that's the first muti-tasking I've done since the
bleeding brain:))

Ray - don't tell them I forgot to turn the soup's gas off and you had to,
will you?

Another repair then Pam. Good egg!!!"

Anita...
and we have not had a bleeeding brain ;)

Pam the goose...
Ah, thanks, Anita:)
I have to admit it wasn't something I regularly did when I was in charge:)

Jackie...
Now that was really lovely soup Pam, what is an oven bottom roll???
never heard that one before??

Pam the goose...
A bread roll cooked at the bottom of the oven.
Lovely texture, lovely taste, just rises in a flat shape rather than a
rounded shape like an ordinary roll.
Great for eating with soup:)

Jackie...

Wally...
Sounds like something a gymnast would do.

Pam the goose...
ROFL

Well, a gymnast would certainly eat it if offered it:))
Wow! sounds good Pam, is it made from yeast?

Pam the goose...
Exactly like your normal dough that is used for the bread making.
And it's how the oven bottom muffin came to life - bakers using the remains
of the bread dough in the part of the oven that wasn't being used to bake
bread, That's why it's useful, gets more of the hot oven used:)

Jackie...
Sounds a good idea Pam.

JoeH...
Similar to what we Geordies call a stottie.

Pam the goose...
Yes, that's it except now ours are smaller - about 5" in diameter.
Over there they found fame like they did over here in the needs of out-door
workers' food sacks.
They were easy to cut/fill/wrap.
Over the years here they have been made smaller and introduced into the
home. Let's be honest, the bakers might as well be using the oven bottom
when they're using the oven, better than leaving it empty!
