Smokey...
Now that's a diet I could follow !!

I had salmon, salad and new potatoes (no sweet for me, cos I'm on a real
diet )...........lol

~~seadancer~~...
Salmon is very good for you, Smokey.
Good luck on your real diet.

We went to eldest daughter's house where the meal was cooked by her new
fiancé. We also met his parents for the first time. Quite a gathering,
us our daughter and two granddaughters, daughter's fella and his son
plus his parents
Oh yes - food
Roast lamb with mintsauce
Roast potatoes with roast onions
Roast courgette with red cabbage
Sweet potatoes
Braised carrots, parsnips and butternut squash

donut...
That roast courgette with red cabbage sounds good Barb. - haven't come
across that one - how is it done?

BunnyHare...
Hmm would have to ask my future son in law cos he did all the cooking.
Appeared to be sliced courgettes and sliced red cabbage tossed in oil

JoeH...
You'll know them as zucchini Sea.

~~seadancer~~...
Oh, of course!
I love zucchini! Thanks, Joe.

and lightly fried - it was delish

donut...
Have had them separately Barb but never together - I think courgettes are a
bit bland on their own. But I do like chopped red cabbage, and I like it
pickled too.

I'm having a swiss cheese sandwich on Rye
with butter. Also a glass of skim milk.
Don't know what I'll have for dessert.
Maybe some tapioca.
What did you have for lunch?

Tyke...
I had some Sausage sandwiches.

We went to an eccentric friend of a friend's house.

An amazing jumble of a house on the seafront, full of nautical bits and
pieces including a yacht in the middle of the garden!!

~~seadancer~~...
I love sausage sandwiches, especially sweet
Italian sausage. Good with green peppers too.
Sausage and pepper. Yum.
Seafront location sounds like fine ambiance, Russ. :)

Tyke...
We had them off the BBQ with onions and sauce - very Aussie.

The place was amazing - I did not like to take my camera.
I know next time I can.

Anita...

This sounds like Sunday dinner! (g)

~~seadancer~~...
LOL Yes, sometimes I forget it's Sunday.
When you're retired, one day blends into the other.

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Can't mistake the week-ends here. Especially Sundays with all that soccer
on the TV. :)

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Funny you should say that! :)

Anita...

~~seadancer~~...
Mmm, good! My MIL used to make yorkshire pudding.
I never had it before or after.

Anita...
It is so easy to make, Sea.
Just flour, milk and an egg - make it the same consistency as a batter ;)
I could not manage desert - but Ron had fresh fruit :)

donut...
We had sirloin steaks, yorkshire pudding, carrots, roasted parsnips, cheesy
leeks, new potatoes and gravy.
2 glasses white wine.
No dessert

donut.

Aries...
My Mothers Day lunch was thought up, prepared, and cooked by my three boys

Anita...

~~seadancer~~...
Then what? Fry it?

Anita...
No, put it in a greased dish in the oven for 20 minutes on gas no 4
I think you thought I was Val rofl

- my son and two grandsons (aged 14 and 16) My DIL and I were waited on
like Queens LOL

This is the menu:

16 year old Tom, all by himself, made French onion soup for starters.

The main course prepared by all three was cubes of breast of chicken and
wild mushrooms poached in a lightly herbed chicken stock. This was topped
with layers of Greek filo pastry all glazed and browned on top. The vegs
were carrots, new potoes, purple sprouting brocolli, creamed swede and
parsnip and lovely gravy.

Dessert was to have been individual strawberry pavlovas but they forgot the
icing suger LOL So we just had fresh strawberries and very nice too. All
was very nice

The boys were dressed in their scout uniforms as they had been at a special
Mothering Sunday parade at their church, over which they wore manly aprons
- one in dark red and the other in green. Tomatoes and red pepper aprons
Tom even wore a chefs hat LOL

West Stand Bowler...
Took my Mum out to a chinese restaurant for Mothers Day.
Mum is 78 and only the second time she has eaten chinese food.
Said she'd be back for more :-)

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Glad she enjoyed the treat WSB. My Mum would never eat anything foreign,
she always said she couldn't stand the smell. I remember when I'd been out
cricketing on saturday afternoon in the old days, I used to love a chinese
cken curry and fried rice. I couldn't eat it in the house though so it was
always al fresco up the garden. :)

It was a bit sad, as my Dad died Friday evening, and even though they
divorced more than 40 years ago.........
God I'm gonna miss my Dad (Andy)

Rabbit...
My condolences WSB, hold on to the nice memories.

Anita...

noreen...
I allways was taught a really hot oven gas number 7,

~~seadancer~~...
Now I remember. It gets baked. Thanks!

donut...
Yes I did! sorry another SM no doubt::-)))
Sorry to read about your Dad, but think of all the memories you have :)

Foxy at w**k...
So sorry to hear that WSB I lost my Dad just over 2 years ago now and I
still miss him, but often smile at the memory of things we did together

~~seadancer~~...
Sorry about your dad. Very sad.
Is it Mother's Day in the UK?
Ours doesn't come until May.

BunnyHare...
Sorry to hear that WSB. You will be sad but hopefully you will have

noreen...
That was nice to take Mum out ! but so sad about your Dad, think of the
things that you did together ;-)

happy memories
((((hugs)))))

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Yes that certainly is sad for you. I went through similar emotions in 1994
(Mum died) and 1998 when Dad passed on. They were 86 and 94 repectively,
so had good innings, but it affected me quite a lot, especially as I'm an

~~seadancer~~...
How wonderful, Val!
Leave it to me to ask this question on your Mother's Day! LOL
I only had a Swiss cheese sandwich for lunch today.
Our Mother's Day isn't until May. :)

noreen...
It sometimes takes a long time to get over FN !! but as you said they had a
good innings ,but sad being the only child
and it doesn't matter how old they were you loved them .

~~seadancer~~...
That must have been a difficult time for you, FN.
Especially with no sisters or brothers to grieve with you.
Any cousins?

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Several cousins, one died in 2000 others are miles away. We weren't a
very close family though.

~~seadancer~~...
So you don't have a lot of close relatives.
But you do have two nice sons and a grandchild (or more) now.
That's good. How many grands do you have?
I forget where they're located. Near you?

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Three. One of each in Cambridgeshire and a granddaughter in Somerset.

~~seadancer~~...
That's great, FN. I think I remember seeing photos
of the latest grand a while ago.

Do you see them often?
We don't see ours as much as we'd like to.

only child.

Tickettyboo...
Sorry to hear of your loss WSB, hope the good memories help to outweigh

donut...

Anita...
Don't we all have them? :))
So sorry WSB let your thoughts dwell on the happy times.
donut

the sadness in time.

Pingu...
I peeled the bread of one side of a wholemeal bread cheese sanwhich that I
made up last night, fliped it over and then peeled the other side off and
did the same, put in in the toastie maker and had it as a toastie. Yum!

~~seadancer~~...
Another cheese sandwich! Hurray! :)
BTW, my cheese sandwich was on toast as well.
