Problems - again!

I came on here this morning and tried to
continue posting (OE just froze) - I did a Cont./Alt/Del and ended task.
Got back and had a look at Frogman's site to see about downloading Gravity.
and saw it was for W 98X - don't know if it would work on here because I
have W 98SE. Tried to post back to Val and to Froggie but OE froze again

There is no W 98X; the X indicates *any* version of W 98, including SE.

More generally, you may see 'Win 9x' - this means any version of W 95, 98 or
often Win ME as well.

Gravity works fine on XP and 98.

You might prefer Dialog though, lots of users in this group and it might
be a little less intimidating that Gravity.

Another option is Thunderbird, or the full Seamonkey suite that Mozilla
offers. Seamonkey is basically Netscape but without the bells and
whistles.

Thanks Ratty - so now I have a choice of Gravity/Dialogue/Thunderbird and
Mozilla. I think I tried Gravity ages ago and went back to OE. I am not
looking for something more complicated though OE is easy but it seems to be

You could also try Xnews, it doesn't need installing, and not a lot of
configuring. Works fine on Win 95 and successors.

Have you tried Thunderbird, Donut..? I always recommend it to people who are
having probs with OE.

like every 30 seconds ,I was unable to send any e-mails receive any either.
I have had to un-unstall everything inc my broadband modem drivers + ALL
BTYahoo stuff and re-instate all from disk.
So, I'm back to OE and not happy because I do use Firefox browser.
I have had the same with every one I've tried, Opera, Eudora all same
result. I HATE YAHOO!!

Which news service do you use? Wonder if it's a problem with them
rather than your news reader? Is web browsing OK or does that stutter
and time out?

The news reader I use is worth a try ( see
under-lying problem then no news reader will fix it :-(
