Excellent, now that you have set-up Thunderbird for Mail and news and
everything is working OK you need to do the single most important thing
which is create a backup of Thunderbird so if anything happens it will
be easy to get everything back.
First shut down Thunderbird
Then Go here:
and download MozBackup click on Download
Click on Mirror 1: install program
Wait for the download to finish and then install MozBackup (dont forget
to check the box that installs a desktop icon).
When you have finished the install MozBackup will automatically start.
At the welcome screen click next.
At the Operation screen check 'Backup a profile'
Click on 'Mozilla Thunderbird 1.5 (xx.xx)
Click next
At the Profile Selection screen
Click on 'default'
Click 'Next'
A popup will appear asking "Do you want to password-protect the backup
file?" (as this is the first time you have used MozBackup click No)
At the Components Selection screen
The defaults backup components are already selected
Click next
The backup will begin run for approx 20-30 secs then click finish.
You have now backed up your profile within Thunderbird, I would do this
at least once a week.
As you get more experienced in using Thunderbird you might like to
create new profiles, add extensions, use new themes and create & edit
style scripts, it is always wise to back Thunderbird up before making
any big changes that might (and sometimes will) go wrong.
