Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Have you changed your Skype name?
You seem to have disappeared from my Skype. :(

Rabbit...
Nope still the same but I've not had it on for a while.

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Can't seem to find it in the Skype search window.

Rabbit...
I've just logged in and looked and I found it, maybe it's your dyslectic
keyboard spelled it wrong :-) I should be in your contacts though ?

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
I don't know what you've done - perhaps just opening up your Skype - but
it's appeared again now. When I tried to call you earlier it came up
with a message to the affect that you were unknown.

Rabbit...
Right when you are about let's test it. I know I have had some instances
where I have spoken to people yet I still show up on their contacts as
awaiting authorisation.

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
When I now hover my cursor over your Skpename it tells me that "This user
has not shared his/her details with you". I shall send a request and try
again later.

Rabbit...
Right I've just OK'd it does that make any difference?

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Yep, it now tells me you're not on-line. If you're about call be back to
try it out.

Re: Plusnet - I can get their webpages but when I try to send mail to a
plusnet addy I was gettin the error message:

Rabbit...
See my post in the GMT thread. However I've got a feeling this is not going
to be my day NIN wouldn't jbex there for a few minutes but I see external
news servers were an issue for Plusnet yesterday.

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Seen that - wasn't that the authentication problem they reckoned to have
solved just before noon?

Rabbit...
And I don't see any mention in service status or announce apologising to
those who couldn't connect at all :-(

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
They did say "We apologise for the inconvenience that this has caused." To
all those who were having connection problems earlier. Doesn't that cover
it then? :)

can't find the server relay.plus.net a few minutes ago, but is now OK and
message getting through.

This message came up on their BB service status page about an hour ago:

Authentication Issues - Resolved
The previously reported problems with authentication on ADSL connections has
now been resolved, and customers are able to connect up as normal.

If you are still experiencing connection problems, then we would first
suggest that you enter your username and password again, and if this
continues to fail contact support in the usual fashion.

We apologise for the inconvenience that this has caused.

JoeH...
You're not kidding ;-)
Mine says you were "Last seen 10/12/05 18:44:54"

Rabbit...
OK I haven't used it for a while ( I still like MSN and have contacts who

pmj...
Oh!
Are there still people who use M$N Messenger then?
:-)

~~Linda~~...
yeah... Me!! :-p

I've tried lots of other things too but to be honest, I've never managed to
better msn (actually now using WLM) for audio/video conversations, which I
use a lot. WLM drives me up the wall in many ways but for pure clarity of
sound/pic its worth it.

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
But of course. :)

use it) but it's definitely not that long and at the time of your post I
wasn't long off Skype.

JoeH...
Maybe that's "last seen" by me then ;-)

pmj...
I think it is.

Skype seems to maintain Information about the Contacts *Locally*,
in its various Configuration Files & the "last Seen" Info relates to
when your Skype Client last saw that the Contact was "Online".

If they always Log in as "Invisible" (or "Offline" - yes, you can
actually Log in to Skype & be "Offline"!), then your Skype will show
them as not being Online, since they were last Online (Visible) at the
same time as you are Logged in.

There's actually a fair bit involved with all this "Internet Presence
Management" stuff, that all the various IM (Instant Messaging) things,
such as Skype, M$N Messenger, AOL AIM, ICQ & Yahoo etc, do.

& there we were, thinking that they were just a way of Chatting
(either by Text or Voice) to other people!
:-)

Apparently, the whole "Presence Management" stuff is quite a big
feature for many of the IM Suppliers & there *are* people who do
actually like to be able to be able to Set their "Online Presence"
in all sorts of different ways.

Me - I usually just Log in to the System & Set myself as "Invisible"
(or "Away") & then assume that if anybody wants to Contact me, they
will Call (a bit like a Telephone - with a Phone, people don't know
*before* calling you, whether or not you are there (or able to Answer
the Call) do they?) - I use things like Skype in the same way - if I'm
around, Online & able to Answer I will, if not they can leave a Message
& I will Call them back.

That generally seems to work OK.
