April 2005
Before:

Lin...
Oh my goodness what a shame, who did that? Is it a Bichon?

Before:
After:

jackie...
Ah!! such a difference, lovely little dog.

~~seadancer~~...
Thank you, Jackie. We loved him.

BoyPete...
Poor little mutt :(

~~seadancer~~...
Yes, he wasn't feeling too well after his haircut.
We're fighting off the urge to get another dog.
We miss jorji, but dogs need so much care and
attention. They are like little children.

Aries...
They certainly do Sea as I am finding out all over again after not having a
dog for several years :)

May...
those - he's got an appointment with his hairdresser on 19th, and always
comes back to the nickname "Shawn". Have neither camera or the know-how to
do before and afters. But maybe as well- he looks dreadful at present, and
he often looks strange after the event. What's the little fellow called?
May .

Rabbit...
Oh I think I preferred the before.

~~seadancer~~...
Well, actually, we did too (prefer him before the haircut).

May...
and

May...
called?

~~seadancer~~...
We called him jorji, May.
Yes, dogs that don't shed their hair often get pretty
tangled-looking over the winter. We never had the
patience to brush and comb him. It's really time-consuming
to keep a Maltese combed because their hair is so fine.
What kind of dog is Rustie? Give him a scratch for me.

May...
Rustie is a Cairn-Terrier - brindled- losts of rusty-coloured
undercoat. He's 9 yrs old, coat becomes very matted. Feel
sorry for his present looks, but am full of arthritis at pres.
and A. is having to do a lot more, tho he's not well. Our
other little dog, same age, is a Schipperke and needs only
a good brushing alternate days, -even so that has gone to
about once a week recently... Roll on the 19th.! Oh,Rustie
-if he could- would say "Thanks" for the scratch..... !
Marg

~~seadancer~~...
Give Rustie another scratch for me, Marg. :)
I've looked for pics of Cairn-Terriers and Schipperkes at
my Flicker.com site. The Cairn-Terriers look similar to Maltese
in a way. The Schipperkes are very different. I had never heard of
that breed before now. Here are 2 URLs to lots of pics of
Cairn-Terriers and Schipperkes. Do they resemble your dogs?

May...
Sea-Dancer. I've only got halfwaythrough each at this visit. I've never
seen *blond* scipperkes untilthis, only the jet-black and the red-hued. We
almost went for a red one as companion to Korrigan, five weeks after he had
come to us, but I longed for a cairn, - I knew the breed so well- and that
was how they came to be bosom-buddies. Of course K. is pack leader... They
got on so well from the beginning, its hard to believe it of two such
different breeds. Will deliver another scratch to Rustie, on your behalf..
he'll be glad of it.
lol.
Marg - (May... whatever..) ;o ))

He was old and failing and when we saw how skinny
he was after the cut, we realized how much weight he
had lost. From about 9 or 10 pounds, he had gone down
to 8, 7, then 6 pounds. He just kept losing weight because
he was off his feed so often. Finally, we put him to
sleep and out of his misery about 10 months later, 2/3/06.
But he had been a wonderful pet!

~~Linda~~...
Aw, he looks chilly without his warm coat! Cute though :-)

~~seadancer~~...
Yes, he shivered for many days after he had his hair cut off.
So tried to keep him covered with blankets whenever he would allow it.
Poor little jorji. Too bad he never liked to be cuddled.
It would have helped. I'd like to have a dog I can cuddle on my lap
or next to me on the sofa. Fortunately, Maltese don't shed.

Jeff Gaines...
Find the right Jack Russell and you'll find you can't go anywhere,
including the bathroom, on your own :-)

They do molt though, I'm still finding my Jack's hairs round the house.

~~seadancer~~...
Uh-oh, I have enough dust around. I wouldn't want it mixed with dog
hair too. We get enough when our sons' dogs visit. (g)

May...
that

May...
They

~~seadancer~~...
I'm sure Rustie deserves lots of scratches. :)
And so does Korrigan. Scratch, Scratch. :)

May...
---Hey, steady it Sea... all this could make them become
too lazy to... Oh, my you've made *me* itch, now!!
Marg May.. ;o ))

~~seadancer~~...
LOL - Well I ain't gonna scratch *you*, Marg! (lol)

Regarding a dog following you around the house, that's so cute.
But I think Maltese look cuter than Jack Russells...
Unless the Jack Russell is a puppy... I found a cute one here:

So there's no fur problem around the house. But that's why
they need to have their hair cut so often. It gets expensive,
but it's worth it.

~~seadancer~~...
My PictureTrail website reports that each of my photos
of our Maltese dog got about 60 hits. Thanks to all who
took a peek.
If you would like to see lots and lots of pics of Maltese
dogs from all around the world, go to:
Of course, they all look alike, but the one difference you
might look for is the difference in the length of their snouts.
IMO, the faces are cuter if the snout isn't too long. A slight
difference in length makes a big difference, IMO.
You might also find a few pics showing Maltese with their
hair grown full length, down almost to the floor. It takes a lot
of time and energy to keep them that way. I suspect that
it gets very expensive after a while going to the groomers so often.

John the R-T...
Typical ups, someone nicked (borrowed) his coat.

~~seadancer~~...
LOL Sure *looks* that way. :)

Splodge...
Lovely pics Sea, and a lovely doggie. What a difference - are you sure it's
the same dog?:)))
Splodge

~~seadancer~~...
LOL - Yes, same sweet little doggie. (g)
