BunnyHare...
Yesterday I walked around Gloucester following the sculpture trail.
It's amazing what things there are around your city that you never see -
many of them high above your head

Rabbit...
Yes, I remember watching a programme about Glasgow and couldn't believe what
I'd never seen. Now I always make a point of looking up at buildings, even
ordinary or boarded up buildings.

Have put the pictures here if anybody cares to look

Rabbit...
Nice ones, I particularly like the big stores having their own *murials*[1]
[1] That'll be wasted on anybody who didn't watch Corrie a few years ago.

BunnyHare...
Funny you should say that as I had to correct the spelling! Used to

Rabbit...
I think they will always be *murials* to me and many more. It's one of those
odd things which stick in your mind:-)

watch Corrie back then PC (pre computer)

Rabbit...
That's what a VCR or DVD recorder are for. I'm an advertiser's nightmare
'cos I never watch commercial TV when it's broadcast, I like to fast forward
the adverts :-)

:-)

Might take a while to look at them all but it did take me almost two
hours to walk the trail and take the photographs

Pam the goose...
Wow! Didn't you have a good day?
What a lovely city:)

BunnyHare...
Yes, I did have a good walk and it was a lovely sunny afternoon.
Isn't it surprising, I have lived here for 15 years and some of those
things I was seeing for the first time.

Pam the goose...
Not the sort of things you look at when you go shopping, though, are they?
You have to be a visitor to see things like that.

BunnyHare...
Yes, I suppose that is true. I had seen the ones on the shops :-))

Still, it shows how you could entertain and educate yourself without
spending much money:))

BunnyHare...
That's true. I went into town on my free bus pass. It was a lovely day
and I enjoyed the walk and all it cost was £1.50 for a cup of tea and a
toasted teacake. Not a bad afternoon out and I was educated into the
bargain

sam...
They're very nice indeed. Must have been a pleasant walk.

BunnyHare...
Thanks, I enjoyed the walk and taking the pictures.

What about the Gloucester Flying Machine ? I used to pass that
when driving to London. Is it still there ?

BunnyHare...
As far as I know it has been redeveloped for housing

Keep them coming Regards.

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
I've heard of and seen a Gloster Meteor - is that the same thing?

BunnyHare...
Well that is a Gloucester Flying Machine but the Flying Machine is, or
was, a pub

Troy's Human...
Just found these Barb (I've been away). Thanks - very interesting piccys.

Foxy at home...
Lovely pictures Barb

BunnyHare...
Thanks Jen

BunnyHare...
Well done that man, proves you don't just spread ketchup :-))
Thanks for your interest

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Thanks for those Barb . But I couldn't see Doctor Foster anywhere. I
thought he was from Gloucester. :)

Rabbit...
Nah he just went there and fell in a puddle.
Doctor Foster
Went to Gloucester
In a shower of rain.
He stepped in a puddle
Right up to his middle
And never went there again!

BunnyHare...
That's the one so that is why he wasn't there because he never came back

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Well Barb's piccies must have been when he wasn't visiting then.

BunnyHare...
Oh I think it is a long time ago that he visited

Rabbit...
The origins of "Doctor Foster" are reputedly lie in English history dating
back to the Plantagenet monarchy of the 13th century when King Edward 1

BunnyHare...
Now that was interesting. Did you know all that or was web-search your
friend?

Rabbit...
Emmm, ahhh, errr a moral dilemma there :-)
favourites.

BunnyHare...
Oh so I think that could be called initiative

Rabbit...
Oh yes I like that :-)

("Doctor Foster") was thought to have visited Gloucester and fell from his
horse into a large muddy puddle! He is said to have been so humiliated by
this experience that he refused to ever visit Gloucester again! King Edward
1 (June 17, 1239 – July 7, 1307) was a powerful man, over six foot tall -
hence his nickname of Longshanks. Edward built many castle - fortresses in
Wales as part of his strategy to conquer the Welsh who were lead by Llywelyn
ap Gruffydd - Edward succeeded and Llywelyn became the last independent
Prince of Wales.

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
That's right. Make it bl***y boring with another bl***y history lesson. :(

BunnyHare...
Twasn't boring so there :-)

Rabbit...
It wasn't boring when you were sitting next to Pauline Smith. ;-)

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Yeah, but I only mentioned it. I didn't go into a long monologue about
it. :)

Rabbit...
So you didn't marry Pauline Smith then ???;-)

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Nope - had too much living to do in those days. :)

BunnyHare...
Nah he only went there once and it rained so he never came again.

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Sensibler bloke!!! :)

The only Doctor Foster now is a pub/wine winebar

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
So you lot didn't want to forget him then? :)

BunnyHare...
Seems that somebody did when they named the pub. There's also a pub to
commemorate Dick Whittington who was born in Gloucester in 1350.
(Another history lesson :-)))

Jackie...
Very nice pictures Barb, your shops have some very posh murals!

BunnyHare...
Thanks Jackie

< your shops have some very posh murals!
Not bad, are they

Aries...
Looks like you've found yourself a new hobby Barb :) The pics are very
interesting and I especially liked the grasshopper :)

BunnyHare...
I like walking Val and since I have the digital camera I might as well
take it with me
Hope you don't all get too bored with the pictures but you can always
choose not to open them :-))

Aries...
Not bored at all Barb, in fact your pics have given me an educational
insight, a tour, of Gloucester, so thank you for that :)
