iPods work with iTunes on Windows and Mac.
iTunes is a music jukebox and library, not to be confused with Windows
media player which has no library features.

Huh?
windoze media Player *does* have various Library features!

Using an iPod without iTunes is possible, but you're just making things
less simple.
iTunes will also download and display album cover art which also
displays on the iPod screen when tracks are playing.
iPods will also display your photographs if you load them, and the video
models play video, surprise!
You don't need or have to download any music from the online iTunes
store.
You can use the iTunes software to rip cd's onto your PC. You can also
drag any music files you already have on your PC into iTunes. Then
transfer the whole lot to an iPod. It's a simple click process and the
iPod library will mirror the one on your PC.
Alternatively you can simply mount the iPod hard drive on your PC in the
same way you would any external USB hard drive and drag and drop music
files onto it. But they won't be catalogued in quite the same way.
The best one?
How much space do you need? Read the specs and decide.
One thing to remember is the shuffle does not have a display so it is
not possible to pick and choose which tracks to play. Again read the
specs and decide.

Any advice - help - or reccomendations would ease my troubled mind !!!
Thank you most humbly....

I like my shuffle, it is extremely compact and has an excellent battery
life. If you use ITunes to hold all my CD's tracks, it is a very easy
matter to fill my Ipod with music. The new shuffle is even smaller than
mine, and I thought mine was small.
