May...
Phoned round seven Electrical Retailer, also B&Q and Homebase, also Argos,
and nowhere can we buy a fan for bedroom. Our local elec. shop where weve
bought evrything from Refridges and Vacuum Cleaners Washing Machines, for
the past 28 years cant even take our name down for when supplies come in
again- they don't know when that could be. Said that the same people come in
on a daily basis, and are doing the rounds hunting for Air-fans. Suppliers
cant tell the shops when they can expect more. B&Q young assistant was a

pmj...
I remember that sort of situation *very* well!
:-(

I used to Run a small Electrical Retail Shop & every Year, whenever
the Weather got Warm & Muggy, like we've been having recently, we'd
sell loads of Fans & then Run out of Stock & have problems getting
more in. - The first Re-Order was usually OK, it's when we came to
Re-Order again, (if the weather lasted more than a few Days) that
the Suppliers had Run out.

We used to "take orders" (with a deposit) for them (so as to get an
idea of the *actual* Demand for them & thus how many to order from
our Suppliers), but the prob was that many people do like you say...

They go to (or ring up) every shop for miles around!!!...
& that only serves to increase the *apparent* demand.
& the Retailers are wary of ordering in Stock, based purely on
casual Enquiries, cos they *know* that when they *do* get Stock,
then all the other Retailers will *also* get Stock in!
& they will be left with umpteen unsold Fans, the *minute* the
Weather gets not so Muggy.

& having a pile of Unsold Fans in Stock will wipe out the Profit
that they made on selling the first lot.
:-(

Being a Retailer that sells Seasonal Goods (& stuff, such as Fans
which depend on the vagaries of the British Weather for good sales)
isn't easy!!!
:-(

If you can't get one in the near future (Days or Weeks), make sure
you buy one (or several) when they *do* come back in Stock, later in
the Year, ready for the next bit of Muggy Weather we have (which
(hopefully!) may not be until next Year).

Don't leave it until it's Humid & Muggy again!!!

That way, you will have it/them anyway, already for the next time
you need them .

I was always a bit puzzled as to how come we seemed to Sell so many
every Year!!!
Cos surely, people can use the one(s) they already bought, the last
time the Weather was so Humid & Sticky?

I haven't actually bought a Fan for several Years!!!

We use the same ones that we have been using for yonks - I even have
a brilliant (12 Inch) 3 Speed, Oscillating Vortice Fan, from about
20 Years ago!!!

Since they don't get all that much use, (relatively speaking, compared
to other Household Appliances) most Fans seem to work OK for years.

bit cocky over the 'phone telling me in sing-song voice cant do anthing,
don't-know-when -- etc. she must be saying that dozens of times daily..
perhaps she was feeling the heat, too. Anyone know where o where... I have
High Blood Pressure and its going worse, I can feel it. Going to run cold
water over hair then go to lie on bed. OH is feeling it all too, altho he

Wish I knew Marg didn't know they were hard to get , i got mine from Argos
a couple last year. In fact i was going to go for one of the standing ones ,
will call there
today and see if they have any.

All you can do is plenty of water and wet cloths, but you get no symptoms
for Blood pressure
but I know what you mean I also have it and you get all red and sweaty and
have thought mine must be up,
but after check it is near normal.-)))

Have you tried Argos online, that way you can choose to reserve it in store,
then you can check all the stores in your area for one, they are on offer in
our local Argos (or so it says on the sale leaflet)
