Jeff Gaines...
I'm trying to find myself a combined email client/contact
manager/calendar (for Windows), I have installed 8 trial programs this
afternoon and none of them do what they say on the tin :-(

Steve...
Thunderbird.

[snipped]

Well that's the morning pretty well gone!

I hadn't though of TB, I have used it for news on Windows and Linux but
gave up because it's not very good as an off-line news reader (may be
driver error). So I've down-loaded, installed, added the extensions you
suggested and imported my addresses, added some appointments, set up
some reminders, trained it with 650+ messages and it's looking really
good. So I didn't start the digging in the garden, I can do that
tomorrow :-)

Many thanks for the suggestion, Steve, I wouldn't have thought of it
otherwise and it's looking good so far!

Steve...
For improved 'offline' capability you might want to try

and

I also run

for extension management

reading of long threads

keep things tidy

Then use various extensions to achieve what you want:

I use

You can use Filters to move and sort incoming mail to various
folders/subfolders:

Its also a full featured News and RSS manager.

The nearest is Outlook, but it seems to want to put all incoming email
in one folder rather than having a separate folder for each email
account.

Tickettyboo...
Long time since I last used Outlook for mail ( and only at the w word) ,
but I am sure there is the same facility as in OE to create folders and
use message rules to direct incoming mail to where you want it to go -
based on to and from addresses or keywords etc.
My OE has 112 folders/sub folders to sort incoming mail ( yes, ok so I
talk a lot lol!) There is very little goes into the actual Inbox, and that
is usually stuff I don't want anyway.

Jeff Gaines...
I just had a play with filters and sent a couple of test posts to
myself from TheBat! - I forgot I usually leave mail on the server (it
aids playing) so I now have about 900 messages to delete :-(

Tickettyboo...
oops!

I did find the filtered ones though and the filters worked. At the
moment I can't seem to set the view to plain text, it seems to insist
on HTML, will keep playing.

PS - one of my managers at work had zillions of different folders in
Outlook, she could never find anything!

Tickettyboo...
I just use names..if I want to find a mail I had from fred I look in the
fred folder :-)

Aries...
I have a similar set up, makes it much easier to find emails I need to save
:)

Anybody using/know of anything that might fit the bill please???

MCC...
Have a look at Time and Chaos, Jeff

Jeff Gaines...
That's one I installed today, doesn't seem to have email though. Starts
to get expensive if you have to buy T&C and their email client!
