Old Grizzly...
has anyone used these devices to reduce the limescale of the hardwater
in houses? are they successfull?

Tyke...
We have a water softner here.

It is an outdoor unit that uses salt cystals - it is very effective.
Most of our water is pumped from a bore and has lots of dissolved minerals
in it.

It's quite a big unit and I'm not sure if you are allowed to fit them in the
UK.

Old Grizzly...
for some reason i must not add a softener to the water here as the CH
boiler makers forbid it. dont know why though.

Saxman...
Firstly, you need to keep a hard water tap for drinking purposes,
because it's healthier.

Then there's the cost and space required.

Old Grizzly...
i appreciqate it wouldnt be free ;-) but if it/they stop my apparatus
getting bunged up with scale and the great cost of replacement then so
be it.
My ticker is bunged up and failing so i am little worried about the
"health" option ;-) and next door have a tap LOL
