I just learned something really useful. You probably already know,
doh!
If you hold the control key down and move the mouse wheel towards you,
the font gets larger in some programmes.

Yep, that's a *very* handy thing, isn't it?
:-)

A variety of apple (the fruit) I believe.

It's the sort of thing that most people never get to find out about
until someone mentions it & then when they do find out about it they
then mention it to other people & gradually people get to know about it.
BTW (for anybody who didn't know or who may be interested) the
Apple Mac Operating System OS X includes a similar Feature, like that,
but it works in *all* Programs (unlike in windoze) - it is actually
a *Magnify* thing, so it is just changing the *Font* Size of the Text
that is Displayed (though that can be done as well) - it Zooms
(Magnifies) a Section of the Screen (around the Cursor), so that you
can see it more easily/clearly & it moves with the Cursor, as you move
it.
windoze also includes a (very rudimentary) Magnify Utility, but it
works completely differently...
Start>AllPrograms>Accessories>Accessibility
Another thing you may find useful (in windoze), if the stuff on your
Screen seems to small, is to adjust the "DPI Scaling", which is a
Setting tucked away, deep in the Display Control Panel Options...
RightClick Desktop (or Control Panel>Display)>
Properties>Settings>[Advanced...]>General
Display ---
DPI Setting
Choose from the DropDown List - "Large Size (120 DPI)", "Normal Size
(96 DPI)" or "Custom Setting..."
On the Custom Setting you can Enter a Percentage, or just Drag the
Ruler, to see the best Setting to suit you.

Control and plus on the numeric keypad also increases the fontsize in some
programs, specifically, Firefox.
