Anyone tried this?
It tells me I've loads of bad (I suppose they mean old) drivers and supplies
with links to download the drivers from.

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
OK I've found the snag. If you try to get one of their recommended drivers
they ask you to subscribe to Driver Updates and pay $29-95. I suppose it
may cut out loads of time searching though.

Charlie Drake...
It told me my Epson drivers were out of date, went to Epson UK DL'd the
latest set and installed, all the info they give you can follow up on
the HW manufacturers site

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Yep that's why I've saved the info and can now check at my leisure.

Anita Carter...
Well, it told me that I needed new drivers for my printer - but when I last
contacted HP about a query on the printer and asked about drivers - they
said do not download unless you are using XP - so I did not download.
There are 3 others they said I need, but as I am going to be purchasing a
new computer shortly - I will resist the temptation of downloading them onto

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Well my computer was new last May and yet it tells me that 6 of the 19

pmj...
So, that means that it's nearly a Year old now?

drivers need updating (I have XP by the way). They are:

pmj...
Yep, there's *bound* to be loads of Driver Updates available for
various bits in it.

display adapter, keyboard, mouse, dial-up modem, ethernet netw*rk adapter
and Realtek AC'97 Audio. All these - except the mouse - came with the

pmj...
See above.
You'll prolly find that even when you first Switched it on, there
would have been some Driver Updates for some of the Hardware in it.

But very often, unless you are having specific probs, you can usually
get away with using the originally supplied Drivers.

Though *some* Drivers are listed & recommended as being Updated,
for Security reasons.

It's always best to check *what* the supposed Update is actually for,
whether it's relevant to the way you use the PC & whether you do
actually need it, before Installing any Update.

BoyPete...
If it ain't brokted, don't try to fixted it :)

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Yep! I learned that when w*rking in R & D in industry.
And when I downloaded a supposéd upgraded audio driver for my other pooter.
It was recommenced by Windows Update, so (silly me) supposed it was OK. I
soon uninstalled it and reverted to the old original version which I
fortunately had on the mobo CD

pooter.

this one.

Rabbit...
I would try it but I don't get the allow ActiveX bar ( again ) even though
I've permitted all ActiveX pop up boxes.

BunnyHare...
I can't get it either so don't feel lonely

Rabbit...
Oh thanks Barb. I do feel lonely 'cos it's not the only page that does that
to me :-( Jut out of interest ( and the fact that you might have missed the
thread last week) can you get the Plusnet webcams at

BunnyHare...
Yes, get that all right. The Active x box comes up and I click ok then
I can see them answering phones etc

Rabbit...
Oh well I'll go back to feeling alone :-(

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
I've just tried it on my W98 m/c and it told me I needed anotherActiveX
download. When I clicked to get it, my pooter was scanned within seconds
and I now know what dodgy drivers I have on my backup pooter too

Rabbit...
Oh isn't that funny, it'll be like those ones which always find viruses
which need only their expensive software to remove them. It's a while since
I've needed the Sceptics and Cynics Anonymous ( UPS branch) but I might just
visit there now :-)

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Doesn't appear to be much going on the development areas though.
