Well, we all went out again on Wednesday to continue the Saturday search in
Wigan. All the areas designated have now been searched, with a negative
result.
Police are now thinking of another area which could be used for a "body
dump", so maybe we'll be out again.

oh dear! I don't like the sound of the `body dump` bit Ray!! probably not a
pretty sight if found?
Sorry to hear about one of your members having a `fit` and the foot damage,
easily done I should think, in the circumstances.
That exercise Demon sounds very interesting, I was a volunteer in an
exercise when I worked in the City, supposed road accident,
several casualties, I was lucky got took back to work in an ambulance,
several others had a long walk back with all their make-up on!!

Thinking of using some face paints for the injuries but for more realistic
Mind you the cost is pretty horrendous for "play injuries".
It would be cheaper to just hit someone with a big stick BWG (only joking)

In the Guides we use Vaseline, food colouring and tissues so I searched the web for
and came up with this

Thanks Barb, have made a note of the site for reference.

Or do it in black and white and use Chocolate ala Hitchcock and Psycho :-)

Try using plasticine along with the face paints, glycerine, and red
food colourings make for nice arterial blood, add some blue for the
venous. one of my favourites I made was an old ring pull in the palm
of the hand with a fine tube hidden beneath the plasticine and
operated by another casualty to have a realistic outpouring, if you
got the pressure point correct you could actually stop the flow.
most spectacular injury was a scout who had cut his foot off. he
actually had an artificial limb and the make up artist worked with a
doctor to fake it, a couple of first aiders were sick when they saw it.

he!he! certainly would be cheaper, I don't think I want to volunteer now
though!!

Good luck if you do get called out again

At the end of the evening when we were all back at the RV point one of our
members decided to have an epileptic fit. Managed to get them into our car
rather than have them lying on the gravel car park, and somehow they managed
to get their foot stuck between the heater and the front bulkhead on the
passenger side.
Came out of fit but complained of a sore left foot. Went to the orsepital on
Thursday to find they had damaged a few foot bones and bruised tissue. Now
on crutches for a week.

Oh dear, hope they soon recover. Can't be doing with a team member
missing
|
On another note I am allowing my sneaky side to come out and play. We are
sorting out a multi agency training exercise, Exercise Demon, in the middle

Sounds like that will be a good workout. Will you have the "casualties"
there complete with fake injuries?
Ray.Milne...

Hopefully we will have some local Scout groups involved, and maybe the "odd"
bit of face painting, although you can actually buy fake wounds which you
"stick on".

of Delamere Forest. After going through the scenario that a light plane
has crashed into one of the lakes in the forest, we then added that it had
bounced off a mini bus full of scouts.
Total casualties 19. My sneaky bit, the mini bus before hitting the trees
has also hit a mountain biker who is now trapped underneath.
Casualties....20.....
Also trying to get some smoke grenades to simulate small fires in the woods
whilst they are trying to extricate the injured.
At the moment we have the Police, Fire and Ambulance, British Transport
Police(cos we are next to a railway line),Red Cross and St.Johns, some of
the Bolton MR Team, Forest Rangers plus?????.
Hope it all comes together, should be fun.
