BTW did you pinch one of our district councils or did you have it first ? In
one of those reshuffles just after they *invented* Strathclyde, Ayrshire was
divided into Cunningham, Carrick and Kyle districts. They didn't last long
though before they got divided up and renamed again :-)

Part of Falmouth harbour is known as Carrick Roads. Don't know why. The
local district council now call themselves Carrick District Council.

Carrick is also a family first name in my in law's family. FIL, BIL and
nephew all called Carrick.
