John in Cornwall...
I want to get a Sage Instant Account accounting package (version 12) - the
blurb says it needs 256mb of Ram and 200mb of free disc space.
How do I check to see if I got 256mb of Ram - and 200mb of disc space free
on my machine ?
I,m using windows XP
Can anyone help ?

pmj...
You can find out the amount of RAM (Random Access Memory) in the
Machine in lots of different ways - one of the quickest & easiest is
to just look at the General Tab of the System Properties Dialog Box.

As is usual with windoze, there are lots of different ways to get to
the System Properties - here are a few of them...

Press (& Hold) either of the 2 windoze Flag Keys, then, while still
Holding it, Press the Pause/Break Key

RightClick My Computer (on the Desktop, if you have the My Computer
Icon on there, or in windoze Explorer) & choose "Properties"

Or Highlight My Computer & Press ALT+Enter
Or go through the Control Panel (in the Start Menu) & in the
"Performance & Maintenance" Section, choose "System"

Or use...
Start>Run sysdm.cpl [OK]

You can also see the amount of RAM by using the micro$oft System
Information Utility...

Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Information

That will also show you the Information about the Hard Disk(s)
(& the Space available on them)

You can also find out about the Hard disk Space, by Right Clicking
a Hard Drive in windoze Explorer & choosing Properties.

Or use the Computer Management thingy...

RightClick My Computer>Manage

Or get to it using Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Computer
Management

If you want some more ways to get to see the Info (or aren't sure
about how to use any of the ways I've Posted), please Post back for
more Info & explanations.

That's 68,300 MB , or to put it another way, you need 0.2GB - so plenty!

Anita...

Jeff Gaines...
Start Menu -> Control Panel -> System, click the 'General' tab and then
look near the bottom of the page which shows what processor and memory you
have.

To check drive space fire up Explorer, go to the 'View' menu and ensure
'Status Bar' is ticked and then click on the drives one by one - look at
the bottom left of Explorer and you'll see how much free space there is on
each drive.
