Didn't Dell recall some just recently too? Yep according to web-search there was
a recall in December last year for faulty batteries and October 2004 for
faulty power supplies. Not good for business :-(

Seems these batteries were made by Sony. That's not good either.

I've thought in recent years Sony isn't the brand name it used to be, for
reliability.

They've never let me down but I expect there just has to be one or two dud
batteries in 4.5 million.
According to Which? magazine Panasonic seem to be flavour of the month.
