I started browsing earlier this evening with a download upgrade.
The sort of thing where you must shut down and restart.
The computer refused to shut down.I tried to call up Task manager
and instead thw following screen came up:-
"We cannot shut down your computer, two other people are using it."
Rabbit...

There's only me and the plucky little woman God bless her, and she
isn't into to computers.
So I ran Norton Virus Scan,Ad-Aware , and spybot search and destroy
(Both up-dated first). Result - nothing.
Maybe I shouldn't have sent that post about Big Brother. Now they're on
pmj...

You could try turning off "Fast user Switching?
That can sometimes cause unexpected effects, when it's Enabled,
which it is by Default.
Control Panel>User Accounts
Change the way users Log On or Off
[ ] Use Fast User Switching
UnTick that, then [Apply Options]
In Task Manager, on the Processes Tab have you also got
[/] Show Processes from all Users
Ticked?
If not, Tick it & see what Processes are Running, & what User
is shown for them.
& on the Users Tab in Task Manager, what Users are shown as being
Logged on?

What happened when you pulled the plug and rebooted. Or couldn't your
firewall (like ZoneAlarm) block all internet activity at the click of a
mouse?
