Just heard that Mum will be home on Monday.
So far she has only been allocated carers for two days!
Its because of the fact that the convalescent home is in one area and she
lives over the border in a different area. Hopefully over the two days my
brother and the warden between them will get something organised and I will
go over in a few days

Wish them good luck then Barb

Only two days! How on earth do they think she will manage on the other
five ??? That's not good, not good at all :(
Tyke...
|
2 days is typical - that was what my Mum was "allowed".Even though the
medical staff stipulated she would need nearly two weeks home care. :-(

Never mind the other five, it's not two days per week, it's two days in
jackie...

Glad to hear you Mum can come home but two days for carer is ridiculous!
I hope you can get it sorted Barb.

Hmmmmmm The after care stinks. Is there no one you can complain to Barb
barb...
|
Well I don't know how much is my brother overreacting and how much is Mum
perhaps saying she doesn't need help but once I am there something WILL be
sorted

I am sure we will get something sorted.

But is a day counted as 24 hours, 'cos 48 hours is almost 7 hours daily
over the whole week, which could 14 ½ hour slots per day, says he
hopefully.

Day is 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes in the evening in this
context

barb...
|
Nope - 15 minutes morning and evening for two days total.

total!

Faint! I can hardly believe it!

First thought - oh, wonderful!
Second thought - how on earth will she manage?

Good news and not so good news. Hope you can get a better carer arrangement

Once I get down there and can see for myself what sort of help she needs
then I can start to make appropriate noises in the right places.

That's a bit worrying Barb. Fingers crossed your Mum gets all the help she

|
That's the way Barb. Go get em girl :-)

:-) My brother says he told them I will be there next week and that they
said "Oh well if you think she needs more help we can discuss it once she is
home"
He thinks they remember me creating last time

lol Well I find it's the ones that shout that get the help Barb. My poor Mum
struggled with my Dad at the end. Thank goodness there were 5 of us
daughters to help her. We alternated the nights we stayed over to help her,
but some people have to take what the NHS offers and it's not enough

Good news that mum will be home Barb, but not so good news on the carer
front, you can always mention the word *danger* to herself, that usually
gets some action.
Good luck !

I am surewe will be able to sort something. Biggest hurdle is Mum because
she is likely to tell them that she doesn't need any help

I'm very pleased to hear the news Barb, and the best of good fortune to your
Mum. I hope it all w**ks out for her, ;-)

Thanks, Biffo. I am sure it will all be fine given time

It's down to politics. The convalescent home is in one catchment area for
carers and mum's home is in another catchment area. The convalescent home
will supply carers for two days until she is settled in then it is down to
the other area. Because she lives in that area should be easy enough to
set up apart from the fact that she wasn't in one of their homes! All this
despite the fact that the place Mum was in was 15 minutes drive away from
her home and the one for her catchment area would have involved anybody
visiting her having a journey of 45 minutes each way

I hope once she is home and you can get over there, you can sort out more
care for her Barb. it is such a worry when parents need help isn't it? :-(
