Seem to have a black area to the left and right margins of the screen,
whilst top of the screen is impinging on the title bar.
Anyone to put me right please?

Have you tried adjusting the horizotal and vertical size on your monitor?

If you mean by using the double-headed arrows, I cannot raise them on
either margin.

No I meant accessing screen adjustments through your monitor menu, by using
the buttons on the monitor itsellf.
