Hi John, certainly sounds like code :-)
The 250GB HD is the hard drive that you can record programmes on (or copy
sound/picture files to).
HDMI stands for High-Definition Multimedia Interface and carries picture
and sound from a DVD player/set top box to a TV/Monitor.
jpg/tiff are file formats for pictures.
I had to research all that, I just read it off the box earlier :-))

My patience ran out, as usual :-(
I ordered a Panasonic DMR-EX85 EB-S (such a memorable name) from SVP
yesterday afternoon and it arrived just after lunch today. So, good
delivery, but there was no manual in the box so it will be interesting to
see if SVP are as good as their reputation!

Thanks frogman, I did down-load those yesterday before I decided to buy.

Ah well at least you know what to do then :-)
|
I like printed manuals though, it's a pity we see so few nowadays, great
to read in the bath!

I must admit I do as well, it's difficult to take the desktop with you
to read the manual if you are not at home :-(

How decadent. LOL

No, no, no - it's only at Christmas and on my birthday :-)

It has analogue and digital tuners, a 250GB HD, HDMI (but I don't have a
suitable monitor to try that), DVD player/recorder with optical audio out
and 2 x SCART (both with RGB). It set itself up and worked 'out of the
box' finding all the Freeview channels (although BBC is a bit iffy). It
also plays a broad range of DVD/CD - I burned a DVD -r with MP3's and it
plays those with a nice menu system, it is supposed to do the same with
jpg/tiff but I've not tested that yet. I ordered a spindle of 50 x DVD -r
at the same time - £12.50, that would have been £50 a year ago!
It's looking good so far, sound quality is good (it seems to be recognised
as digital by my amp even for the Freeview channels and the connected Sky
box). I need to get together with Saxman to see how his new TV and my PVR
work using HDMI :-)

Psst!!! I'll be happy to test your PVR( free of charge) on my HDMI telly. I
reckon the tests should take about a year, please arrange delivery :-)
