Innit Cold Today

I just lit the woodburner for the first time this year. Does look
lovely.

What sort of wood do you burn in your stove, Annie? Please don't say wooden
wood

There's a guy near here who seems to make a decent living out of cutting
and delivering logs.

When I lived in Shetland we had a woodburner there that thrived on a diet
of old fence posts :-) It had to because there are very few trees in
Shetland.

Periodically the next-door neighbour farmer would replace a fence and he'd
deliver all the old posts to our back door. All I had to do was saw them up
into suitable lengths - used to get four bits out of one fence post. They
burned well, and best of all they were free :-)

We burn any wood we can lay our hands on. Last year we burnt fence
posts. Ash is the best but anything really, we keep the doors closed,
it doesn't matter if it spits then.
We can also burn solid fuel.
We live in the forest and hubby is a woodman, amongst other
things...useful.

It hasn't stopped drizzling all day, been proper miserable. I needed
to do something to cheer myself up.

Still not cold down here in Cornwall. 13°C outside but very dreary although
it has dried up since this morning.

Cool here today with only a miserable 14c forecast,that is well below our
average.
Back up at the weekend with 31c on Sun & Monday :-)

Wood burners are lovely.
I feel great when I light ours for the first time,It rings in a new season.

We have a slow combustion fire with the door on and airflow control,once hot
and full you don't touch it for hours :-)

I reckon we can use 2 ton of wood a year.We have the fire going nearly
continuously (overnight too) all winter/early Spring.
