Back from Lincolnshire. Mum is making good progress and able to do most

Hi Barb, welcome back. We've missed you!
BunnyHare...
Glad to hear Mum is coping. So difficult when olduns are determined to fend
for themselves. Still, it looks like she'll do it OK:)
BunnyHare...
|
Yes, hopefully she will be ok. Still has to use a zimmer for getting around
and is having to take painkillers as her hip is still quite painful but as
long as she can get around the flat, get herself a cuppa and something to
eat that is the main thing

Glad to have you back Barb and that your Mum is getting around o.k. She
is very determined.
Best wishes.

things herself, albeit a bit slower than she used to be.
Carers came in for the first couple of days but have not been in during the
time I have been there. They are visiting tomorrow just to see that Mum has
settled down ok after my visit then the idea is that they won't come in
every day but Mum will have the phone number and can ring them is there is
anything she needs. She will have the warden calling in every day and she
has a lifeline button so, hopefully, she will be ok.
She is very independent and prefers to do things herself.
Me? Well I had a nice break with Mum, now I have loads of washing to do not
to mention a couple of thousand posts in here to read!
Sorry if I have missed any birthdays, anniversaries and such

Pleased that she has settled in now, Barb - must be a load off your mind
:)
BunnyHare...
|
Thanks, Anita, it is. What's the latest on the medical probs in your
household? Hope things are improving

We saw the cardiologist last Tuesday - they cannot do the
DcCardioversion, because the shock to his body will cause him to have
another slipped disc and the problem with his neck could worsen -
causing him to be paralised :(
They are therefore going to do an ablution catheter (burning away where
the electric spasms are with a laser), with luck he will not need
another one done - but he might have to have up to 3.
In the meantime his appointment to see the consultant who will undertake
the procedure has been put back from January to February. The
Cardiologist was not amused by this - because there is still no date for
him to have the procedure - only a consultation.
He had an appointment with the Spine Specialist in March when he was
hoping to get a date for the op on his neck. Now this has been brought
forward to February - which is not much good because he will not have
had the heart problem sorted by then.
So it goes on ..................... and on ............

Glad your Mum is coping Ok. Hope she continues to improve.
BunnyHare...

Thanks Shaz. Just have to hope that she won't try anything too energetic
and that she will ask for help when she needs it

I'm in and out, so not followed everything. Sorry. Your mum sounds a lot
like mine. The 'oldies' seem to have so much determination and passion to
cope. Glad to hear things are going well. :)

Just to keep you updated Mum fell again a month ago and broke the other hip.
Thanks for your good wishes

That's good news Barb. I am sure your Mum will cope especially with you on
the other end of the phone if she needs help

Welcome back Barb, your mum seems to be doing very well but she will miss
you lots I'm sure, such a kind and loving daughter you are :)
BunnyHare...
|
Thanks for the welcome back, Val.
Spoke to Mum tonight but she said she hadn't had time to miss me so far as
she had been visited by a couple of people from other flats in the complex

Sounds like the neighbours aren't going to let her get lonely then. Perhaps
BunnyHare...

Looks that way. When Mum first went in there the tenants kept themselves
very much to themselves but there have been a number of new, more mobile,
people moved in and they seem to watch out for the less mobile
