John in Cornwall...
Don't ever moan about Easyjet.

doesn't it?

It was a few years ago now when I travelled from Heathrow to Russia's
Sheremetyevo airport via British Airways.
That is where the luxury ended. After a drive south through Moscow I finally
arrived at Domadedovo airport to fly Aeroflot to Samara. It was necessary
to carry your own suitcase to the aircraft and watch as it was loaded into
the hold. This flight was a real eye-opener. Missing seatbelts - torn
seats - litter on the floor that had been there for days.. and standing
passengers at the back due to an overbooking problem. I had been warned
about the "in flight services" of which there were none. A visit to the
toilet was enough to turn the strongest of stomach's. There was no mistaking
the arrival. The nose of the plane suddenly dipped downwards which left us
in no doubt that we were going to land.
My stay in Samara and my business visit to the Lada factory was , and is
another story - for another time.
A year later,on a return visit, and whilst waiting in the queue to load my
luggage for the same flight - I happened to notice the aircraft's tyres.
Not only were they worn smooth - the rubber inner tube was clearly
visible.!!
This prompted an about turn - and a return to Sheremetyevo to catch the next
available BA flight back to London. I wondered why all the passengers
clapped and cheered when the flight took off - looking back now, I can fully
understand why.
Whenever I hear people moan and groan about Easy jet - I fell like telling
them this story. Compared to Aeroflot, Easy Jet is the last word in Luxury.

Jackie...
That was frightening John, it is a wonder you do not hear of more air
crashes if they are allowed to use planes like that.

John in Cornwall...
I agree Jackie ...
After that little episode Lada was removed from my list of customers to
visit. It was too dangerous.
Looking back on it now - it was one of the worst airlines I ever travelled
with, in fact the whole place was rotten !! After the 15 or so years of
travelling I am happy to say I don't miss it at all - apart from Malaysian
Airways which was fantastic. Tis nice to reminisce sometimes though.

jackie...
We used to have a Lada car John, built like a tank!!!

noreen...
I think you must have some very interesting story's to tell John!!! that
must have been an incredible journey.
Tell us more please. To imagine people actually standing in an aircraft
!!!!! ;-)))
