You were going to get in touch with me regarding my speed problem. I
rang your mobile this evening and got no answer.

|
I did get your Phone call (twice) & I did answer it/them (both times),
but nothing happened.
:-(
There was no Voice Message left - so I dunno what happened there.
(So I rang you back & we spoke OK)

I just wanted to let you know I have been on to Tiscali and they are
having their engineers check my problems and might need BT to check as
well within the next 48 hours so I will leave things as they are for

OK.
It would be a good idea to make sure that you have the UserName
& PassWord for the Admin/Setup Pages on your BT Voyager ADSL Modem
Router WiFi thingy handy, cos they will prolly need to Access it,
to check the Settings (& they may need to put in a different (ADSL)
"test" UserName & PassWord, into the ADSL Settings part of the Router
&/or ReSet it), so you will need to be able to (& know how to!) Access
the Admin/Settings Pages for yourself, after they have done the tests,
to make sure that you have the right (your own) ADSL UserName & PassWord
details Set up in it.
& you may need to UnPlug everything else from the phone Line &/or move
the ADSL Modem/Router so that it is Plugged directly into the Master
socket, cos without doing that, it's impossible to correctly, accurately
& fairly pinpoint exactly where the probs(s) is or are.
Also, in the meantime, have a look at this SpeedTest page, from time
to time, so as to get an idea of what actual Download Speed you are
getting...
That uses a small .SWF (ShockWave Flash_ Movie/Applet thingy which
Downloads a 3131 KB (about 3 MB) File & shows you the Speed of the
Download, while it's doing it.
I gather yours is showing only about 800 or 900 kbps (just under 1mbps)
taking about 20 Seconds for the 3 MB File, at the mo?
That's actually not *too* bad, (1mbps) but it's not as fast as the sort
of Download Speeds I would expect you to be able to get, using ADSL
where you are.
By way of comparison, the Cable Modem Connection I am using (rated at
4mbps) Downloads that 3 MB File in just over 6 Seconds, showing a
Download Speed of about 3900 kbps
Post back with how you get on with the Tiscali & BT people.
