Anybody With a Dell Created Recovery CD's?

I am following a thread in another group where the OP has a Dell (no
model given) which has a recovery partition on the HD.

Both my IBM and Toshiba laptops have that but they also have the
facility to make a set of recovery CD's - which was my first job when I
bought them (thank goodness!).

Anybody with a Dell know if this is possible and how to do it? He says
that Dell no longer sell recovery CD's at the request of MS which seems
a bit odd.

My mate bought a Dell laptop just a couple of weeks ago and it came
with a recovery disk *and* a proper Windows XP Home disk.

Yes, it is a slightly odd thread and I'm not sure how much of it is
accurate. It may be a second user machine perhaps.

It *is* possible. I've created one (my Dell is less than 2 months old).

Go to :-

Start/Programs/Dell Accessories/Dell OS Recovery CD

It's a proper Windows XP Home CD but be warned - it can only be done once -
once it's been created the option disappears.
