Question for the football fans

I watch the occasional match but don't know much about football. Hubby does
(he's glued to it now) but doesn't know the answer to my question.
What is it that some of the players have smeared all over the front of the
chest area on their shirts? Is it something like Vick, to help them breathe
more easily... or Vaseline for some weird reason? It looks yukky!

Lol, well the first couple of times I noticed it I thought they just
dribbled a lot (and I didn't mean their fancy footwork!) but then realised
quite a few had it. Still yuk, lol. Thanks Joe... I'll rush in to tell

Lol, well yes they have bucketloads of that too but this is thick, slimy
and yukky looking, just under the neck of their shirts... if you want to
look that closely ;-)
