Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Well I won't be giving blood 'til Mondsy 20th and presumably they'll need
another week for the results to get back.

Rabbit...
Fingers crossed for a better result on Tuesday.
If you are really lucky I'll refrain on Monday from posting words like Steak
and Chips, Bacon and Egg, Steak Pie and Yorkshire Pudding etc :-)

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Thanks a bunch. Perhaps my Saturday fry-up wil have to go out the window.
:(

Tyke...
Apart from the sugar it ain't too bad.
Hope the repeat test show lower sugar levels.

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Thanks Russell - so do I.

Bill P...
Good luck on monday FN.

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Thanks Bill, but it's still 9 days away yet. :)

Monday.

Foxy at w**k...
Oh dear, but cholesterol is quite easy to get down FN

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Not if you're already as skinny as me it ain't. :)

Flying Rat...
welcome to the diabetes club (if you aren't already a member). Got mine=20
coming up soon as well.

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Not a member so far Ratty, but I have some friends who are, although none
who are insulin injection dependent. Had a cat: Sandie who was for the
last 2 years of his life.
Remember this?
I had this same problem some years ago. When I had a retest after fasting,
blood sugar levels were normal again. I'm hoping that will be the case this
time.

That blood pressure isn't too great but could be White Coat Syndrome.=20

Flying Rat...
Fasting is a good test, but what you need is a Glucose Tolerance Test.=20
Takes about two to three hours and involves Lucozade (urgh!)

Ask your tame quack about one of them, better safe than sorry. And=20
forget about insulin, not an issue. There's some way to go before you=20
would need that, but better safe than sorry at this stage is what you=20
need to keep in mind.

Anita Carter...

~~seadancer~~...
'Tis a problem.
I remember in grade school, a doctor would come to the
school and examine the pupils who hadn't brought in evidence
that they had had a private medical exam.
I doubt that they do that now. If they do, I'm not aware of it.
Haven't thought about that for years.
It wasn't a very intensive exam, as you can imagine.

Anita Carter...
When we were between the ages of 6 and 11 we used to have visits, at school,
from the 'nit nurse' and the 'eye nurse' - can still remember queuing up
waiting my turn ;))

~~seadancer~~...
Funny, the things we never forget. I can remember the names most of my grade
school teachers: Mrs. Babel, Mrs. Brown, Miss Van Hoesen, Mrs. Springstein.
That's 4 out of 7. Thought I could do better than that.
The principal was Miss King. (So, as a kid, I thought all principals were
called King!) (lol) Her secretary was a fat lady named Miss Slater. How's
that for remembering names from over 60 years ago.

Anita Carter...
Oh can remember some too - Miss Keating - the principal , Miss Rolfe -
french teacher, Miss Davis - geography, miss Cummings - Art, Miss Knight -
PT , You notice they are all 'Miss' - one or two were called up into the
forces duting the war. They then resurrected some of the 'older'ones. I
remember there was one called Miss Underdown she wore long billowing skirts
down to her ankles - like something out of the victorian era. Always in
black too !
They are from over 60 years ago too LOL

~~seadancer~~...
Good for you, Anita!
Too bad the teachers aren't alive to know we remember them. (g)
I once met a policeman in White Plains, NY. He came up to me and asked me if
I had been his 4th grade teacher. I had. (g) I remembered him well. It was
grand to see how nicely he had grown up.
FN it is the carbohydrates you have to watch not so much the sugar.

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Yep I realise that, so will be curtailing those a little too.

If you are having to fast from the night before the test - sounds as if you
are indeed having a glucose tolerance test.

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
I seem to recollect that when I had a fasting test some years ago - I just
had blood taken - and that showed up well witin the acceptable range.
Don't remember any drinking glucose on that occasion - but then memories
aren't perfect though :( - even mine :)

I agree with Flying Rat the drinking of the glucose part is vile - but I
drank a lot of water after it (which they allow you to do - but only
ater) - removed the sickly taste !

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
I'll bear that in mind, but then, perhaps my sweet tooth will like it as
it is. :) .

Mine goes up every time I see a doctor waving a needle at me!

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Well my doctor is a sweet young unmarried one. She's not unattractive
either - so you could very well be right. :)
I measure my own BP daily in the mornings, and the doctor's reading is
always higher than them.first 4 days this week results were well below
135/70 yet Thursday, for some reason, no idea why (unless it was 'cos I
woke up suddenly from a nightmare) it was 155/81.

Foxy at w**k...
lol Mine too

Aries...
good luck with that then FN. What are you going to be doing to bring your
cholesterol count down? I eat porrage for brekkie these days and have
changed from ornery milk to Soya milk, and soya yogs, and eat far less
cheese than I used to. I don't have to take tablets but Tony does have to
as not all Cholesterol is due to eating high fat.
