Did you see "Coast" on BBC TV last week?
MCC...
|
Or even earlier this week, depending on when you start your week :-)
|
It featured the south-west of Scotland with Arran and Ailsa Craig shown
along with Irvine and Culzean Castle in Sandraland, as well as other
places.
I thought of you and your ferry trip when I watched it earlier this
afternoon on video :-)

No, I didn't:( I would have loved it.
Sandraland is *so* pretty.
I remember her saying she wanted to see Liverpool. But what is there to show
her? OK, there's 2 Cathedrals - hardly more than an hour's visit because
they're within walking distance of each other and are 20th century
buildings. There's no history attached.
I seriously think that's all we could think of to visit. Well, maybe the
Landing Stage and a trip across the river to Birkenhead but our ferry boats
are nothing like those we saw in her part of the world!
I wonder if Coast is repeated, I must ask Ray to watch for it. In fact I'll
go now or I'll only forget to ask him:))

There is lots to see in Liverpool! I remember when I went to Huyton for my
job interview, ofterwards I went into Liverpool (eventually after I
navigated the one way system!) The Liver building is so Impressiveve! It is
decepivly huge!
I went there the night prior to my interviw ond took some photos then on the
day of my nterview went to the old docks. Well worth the visit!

Dunno if it gets repeated or not, Pam. I seem to remember it being on in
the wee small hours with signing for deaf folk - that would be better than
Pam the goose...
|
Good Heavens! I wouldn't think of taking someone to see the Liver Building!
Ali...
|
That's the trouble with locals - they miss the landmarks because they're
so used to them. I don't suppose you'd show the tourists the Mersey
Tunnel either. (And I don't suppose a road going under a river is as
impressive these days as when I went through it (them?) back in the 50s)
|
You know the Liver Birds on the very top of the Liver Building? My brother
was a joiner and one of his jobs was to take them down, repaair them & tidy
them up and then put them back up:)
Ali...
|
There you are, not only an impressive sight, but a personal anecdote to go
with it.
|
Oh, are the old docks still kitted out? The puffing billy used to take us
kids from one end of the docks to the other:) Mind you, knowing how the
Council alternately wreck then rebuild, I guess the term now means somewhere
quite different to the docks we knew in the 40s.

I suspect it's the same place, but entirely different activities. That's
certainly the case in London.
|
|
nothing.
I still have it on video - email me at this address if you would like me to
send it to you.

Thanks, Mike:)
I'll see what Ray comes up with.
