Dell phoned a few days ago and told me my new PC will be delivered

tomorrow. Hopefully it will be but on checking my order on their website it
just says "Your order has been dispatched as of 17/01/2006" - it's said
that since last Friday so don't really know what it means :-(

Never mind I'll have it soon - it looks good - 4 USB ports - WOW !!

Lucky you - I am in the process of sorting out a new pc - was going to have
one made to my specifications - but it is cheaper just to go and buy one
already prepared.
Just got to decide where from ;)

But I'm talking about the USB ports on my new monitor :-)

OK I'll don my dunces cap and ask wot you do with USB ports on the monitor
and why ?

Plug USB devices into them; 'cos it's more convenient than the ports on the
tower.

AFAIK it's just a USB hub, like you can get for a quid in a poundshop, or
given away free with most Serif products, but built into the monitor casing.
Or could be slightly better, with a power suupply.

With the monitor panel that I am sat in front at the moment there is
a USB security card reader, a keyboard and a mouse. Someone has also
left what appears to be a USB to Nokia phone charger lead too.

Why? Well it is a bit of a stretch to grovel under the desk to reach
the system an it probably has all of its cables strapped tightly in
place and would need a man with snips to remove those and to unlock
the security bolt before the machine could be pulled forward enough
so as the PC's own USB sockets could be reached.

I see the point, I'd just never thought or heard of having them on the
monitor.

The PC itself has another 7 :-)
