A bulk carrier and a chemical tanker have collided in the Channel near
Barbara...
Guernsey. Tanker evacuated by helicopter and lifeboat, and drifting.
Believed to be loaded with phosphoric acid.
No casualties reported

That sounds nasty BoyPete, glad no one was hurt!

Apart from the longshoreman that got a hernia lifting it into the lifeboat?

But how many wildlife casualties will there be following the leaking of
phosphoric acid into the sea? :(
Barbara...
|
Naturally we hope none and of course some of us hadn't actually forgotten
that apart from Potassium and other nutrient salts what else can be absorbed
into seaweed naturally had we? .... ;-)
It's just the (relatively vast) quantities in the immediate area of any
alleged "leak" that might proove locally environmentally distressing until
dispersed naturally. :-(
and on a more positive note -
Rumour has it that most of the bottle nose whales had already left the area
anyway to attend a memorial service round the corner in the Thames Estuary!.
;-)
(An alternative wake had been planned in the River Seven but local surfers
said it would end up a bore.)

Heard this on the news just now Pete. Robert says the English Channel is
one of the most dangerous places to sail
