BoyPete...
Hi :)
Not been around much lately cos of a connection problem. Been on/off for 3
weeks now. Eventually got a BT Broadband engineer in this morning. Very nice
and competent chap. Router became suspect, but, using a plain ADSL modem,
connection also dropped from time to time. This was fixed by removing the
wires for the upstairs extension (no longer used) 'Definitely' the router

pmj...
Oh?
So, were (are) you *still* getting the Connection probs, using the
Belkin Router, even after sorting out the upstairs extension wiring
then?

then. Phoned Belkin, but they were busy and I was asked to leave my name and
number and they'd get back to me. Sure enough, in less than an hour, they
called back. I explained the problem........told them the router was 11
months old. *No problem* ! Pack it up and return it, and we'll replace
it.............our products are guaranteed for life! Then the very pleasant

pmj...
Yep.
The Belkin (Router) Product s Warranty is pretty good in that respect!
:-)

young lady added..........just sent the router, not the power supply/cables
etc............you can keep them as spares. We will dispatch a new pack via
overnight courier as soon as we get the faulty one back.

pmj...
But that will still leave you without any Router, for the time that
it takes yours to get back to them & the Replacement to be supplied,
won't it?

BTW - The replacement may very well be a "Factory Re-Conditioned"
one (or a previously returned (as unwanted) one) - though you may get
a Brand New one.

Now, I've long recommended Belkin, and , accepting that every manufacturer
occasionally has a faulty product, I have to give them *top* marks for
customer service. :)

Smokey...
Nice to hear that Pete I also have a Belkin router, but no problems. fingers
crossed:-))

Aries...
never had any problems with my 3Com either pleased to say :)

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Is that made by SafeCom like mine then Val.
Or is it it true Python parlance - something completely different? :)

Aries...
Never heard of SafeCom so must be something different !
Mine is similar to this one

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Nope - not the same. Safecom are Canadian I think:

pmj...
SafeCom is a completely different Company from 3Com.

OK, yes, it's quite possible that some of their Products may actually
use (some of) the same ChipSets (in some of their stuff), which are
actually made by yet another firm, but basically SafeCom stuff isn't
the same as 3Com stuff.

pmj...
I like the way *some* firms will actually send out a Replacement
on an "Advance Replacement" basis.

They send it out, in advance of receiving your duff one back,
(with an Invoice &/or Charge your Credit Card), then, when they
get the duff one back, they Cancel the Invoice/Refund the Credit
Card Charge.

Maxtor did that, when I had a failed Hard Disk Drive.

I know of a few other people who have had a Belkin Router Replaced
FOC by Belkin.

Just recently, a friend of mine had a prob with a Belkin
Router/Modem/WiFi thing - it didn't work at all.
The Power Light on the it didn't come on at all, so he rang Belkin
(this was the first week of the New Year) it took him quite a while,
after several calls to actually get through!
:-(

But they agreed to send out a New Power Adapter thing.
That arrived OK (within a Week), but the prob still remained...
So he rang them again & they asked "Had he tried it in another
Power Socket?"!!!
:-)

He said "Yes, of course! - & it still doesn't work", so they then
arranged to send him a complete new (replacement) Router (with Power
Adapter)

He is now waiting for that to arrive.

Jeff Gaines...
They were brilliant at replacing a UPS of mine that failed, even sent
me a paid reply label to send it back :-)

Only issue I have ever had with them was a long exchange of emails over
a KVM, never did get it resolved. They took the view that a MS
Intellimouse was not a standard PS/2 mouse, despite it being frequently
mentioned in the instructions, gave up in the end, life's too short.

David C...
Interesting, I've one of thier 2-port KVM switches & it works quite
well with a Kensington Orbit Trackball, ( can't abide meece!).
AFIAK, one of the PC's has Kensington software installed, seems to
make no difference.

I do have an unused Intellimouse & have installed the software, when
running Win98, but since XP seems to give the same "extras" as
Intellimouse as std. I've not bothered to reinstall.

I've just ( yesterday ) received my new laptop & it's not yet fully
set-up, but the spare trackball works fine with it. ( I also can't get
on with touchpads!).

Bryan Jones...
Interesting to read about your experiences and hope you get it all
sorted satisfactorily.
As a matter of interest I have been using a Belkin router/modem for
several months. Most of the time it works perfectly but every ten days,

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Are you now using the new one then Pete, or has that yet to arrive at your

BoyPete...
Not had a chance to send duff one back yet. Using a ADSL modem :)

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
That's what I thought - hope you've got your secondary firewall up and
w*rking then. :)

BoyPete...
Of course.............I always use protection ;)

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
I'm pleased to hear it. :)

pad?

approximately, I lose my connection. I have found that the only way I
can get reconnected is to take out the power lead from the back of the
router, leave it out for a few minutes and then replace it. After the
lights twinkle on and off for a minute or two, Eh voila! Everything
works fine again.
I would be interested to hear from any other Belkin users as to whether
they have had similar experience.

David C...
I've not had any probs. with my Belkin W. router, but I fitted inline
switches into the powerleads to the router & modem powerpacks, so that
I can turn them off when not required. ( I'm mean, already....)
Couldn't easily reach the power socket.

BunnyHare...
Sounds like you had great service Pete. Well done Belkin

Derek F...
Even better than US Robotics who replaced my three year old modem after it
was affected by lightning. They said not to believe retailers who say that a
product has a twelve month warranty, they always honour their products for
five years.
