Tyke...
Morning/evening/arvo.

Hope all are hale and hearty.

Things have become very complicated with trying to get my MIL out here for a
break in the sunshine.

BunnyHare...
Sorry to hear of all the complications Russell and hope you manage to
get something else sorted.

Tyke...
We will try :-)

I expect MIL is a bit disappointed (and Mrs Tyke too) but hopefully they
will be able to have some quality time together over here.

Tyke...
We will get some time with them :-)

As you say, your mum may benefit from some short term respite care. She
will probably be like my Mum and hate it, also, like my mum, go off you
a bit for agreeing to let her go there, but at the end of the day if it
helps then it will have been worthwhile.

Tyke...
I just hope Mum listens to me when I visit. There are a few care facilities
that are a bit like "Mature people's hotels". She would enjoy stopping there
for a few weeks then a few weeks at home I'm sure.

Oh my Russell. It never seems to rain but it pours. I hope you can get
things organised and get to make the best possible for all concerned out of
that chaotic scenario

We were struggling to find any travel insurance at all for her.
Finally we found two companies that would arrange cover........(for 4 weeks)

Quote 1............1500 pounds

Quote 2 ................3000 pounds.

That's just insurance,

Anyhow.............

We were about to get flights organised, pay insurances etc.
The specialist was very positive as the chemotherapy has been very
promising - nodes have shrunk etc, really good news for a change!!!

Low and behold.............

MIL now has a couple of blood clots that need 3 months Warfarin treatment
(apparently common due to the treatment) :-(
MIL is not allowed to fly now due to the risk of Deep Vein Thrombosis. :-(

She is understandably very upset.

Aries...
very sorry to hear that Russell :(

JoeH...
Sorry to hear that Russell, but hopefully it's all part of the process
of *getting better* from the other complaint.

Hope things turn out for the best.

So..........change of plans.

I'm popping back up the UK within the next few weeks to see my Mum who is
not very well ( she needs constant care now(could be time for a nursing home
at least part time))

Aries...
Your mum will be so pleased to see you but sorry to hear she is not so well
:(

On my return Mrs Tyke will fly up and spend some time with her Mum and may

Smokey...
Sorry to hear that Russ, I am sure both mum's will be looking forward your
trip's over here tho ;-))

Tyke...
They are thanks.

Did you try that Free spirit insurance co ?

Tyke...
I did but it was the same - no cover over the age of 80 :-(

Jackie...
Sorry to read about the MIL's Russell I hope you can get things sorted out
very soon.

take her away for a holiday in the UK or on the Continent (no flying).

BoyPete...
Oh Russ, it seems to be a big fan and loads of sh*t atm don't it. I hope
things work out the best way possible for all concerned.
ps. Bring jumpers! ;)

Anita Carter...
Sorry to read this Russell, 'never rains but it pours' - do hope everything
turns out right for you all :)

Tyke...
Cheers Anita.

I have to admit that we feel very "down" at the minute.

It is the uncertainty of if all. :-(

I'm hoping that if we can get things organised and booked it will feel a
little better.

Rabbit...
Just when things seemed to be looking up :-( Hopefully though the new plans
turn out even better than expected.
