BunnyHare...
Got my test results today
BP - 138/74
Cholesterol 5 but with lots of good cholesterol(doctors words)
Heart, Liver and Kidney functions all fine
Diabetes check clear

Rabbit...
That sounds like we'll need to shoot you :-)

Borderline under active thyroid so a further blood test in 2 months

Foxy at w**k...
Looks like your not in bad fettle then Barb :-)

Bigbazza...
So...You have a low 'Blood Pressure' Barb .I that what you saying Barb..

BunnyHare...
No, the blood pressure is OK Bazza. Its the thyroid gland that is
borderline. No treatment though, just keep and eye on it and make sure
it doesn't drop any lower as I understand it

?...

Jackie...
All sounds very good Barb. I have had an underactive thyroid for years, but
do not seem to have any problems only that it is difficult to lose weight!!!

BunnyHare...
Doesn't seem too bad. He didn't seem too worried about the underactive
thyroid at the minute, just going to keep an eye on it. I have to go
back in two months for another test

BunnyHare...
That's reassuring then. It its ok for you then I'm in good company

Rabbit...
Good luck with those tests. Isn't under active better than over active ?

Ali...
Having had both, I'm not sure :^|
When I was over, my brain was racing and full of ideas, now it's so slow,
sometime I think I'm not thinking.

When I was over, I could eat what I liked, without gaining weight, now, well
2" on the waist, 1" on the collar (that's the clothing size, I don't measure
the body).

On the bright side, having a under-active thyroid does entitle me to free

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Being over 60 does it for me ;)

Ali...
I've been getting free prescriptions since I was 36. :^)

I'd rather not need the prescriptions.

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Too true.

prescriptions. :^)

Aries...
How do you know when you have an under active thyroid?

Anita Carter...
Oh you know, feeling exhausted, lethargic, gaining weight, not being able to
remember things and if you are really unlucky it affects the muscles - as it
did to me. Aching a lot too does not help!

Aries...
Really! What is a safe level for a thyroid reading ?

BunnyHare...
My doctor didn't tell me what the reading was, just said borderline

Aries...
I always ask about test numbers, but not had a thyroid test for a couple of
year now

Anita Carter...
The normal is about 4 - 5 but I have to be about over 1.5 and under 2.5.

Aries...
why is that ?

Ali...
I don't have aching muscles; I do have the rest though, but mainly only for
the last 5 years or so (out of 20). I'm just trying to remember when my
previous doctor retired. Having been or Hormone Replacement Therapy (no, not
*that* hormone) for 20 years, I shouldn't be be suffering the effects of too
little thyroxine, as, according to the blood tests, I'm getting enough by
tablet to compensate for the thyroid inactivity.

BunnyHare...
Well the doctor told me symptoms could include feeling tired, putting on
weight, hair thinning, and you have less energy than you used to have
When I told my friends at the writing group today they said if I am
showing signs of having less energy they wouldn't like to meet me when I
had lots of energy :-)

Aries...
I have all of those symptons - time to be re tested me thinks

BunnyHare...
And I have none of those symptoms, yet

None are perfect but AFAIK it's better to have an under active thyroid ( I
have a friends who has that) than an over active one.

BunnyHare...
No idea Sandra - I expect in the normal run of things you wouldn't want
either but as its only borderline and the doctor didn't seem too
bothered, only just wanted to keep an eye on it, then I'm not going to
lose any sleep over it. (I usually only get 3 to 5 hours anyway!)

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
So far so good then Barb.

jamps...
Excellent results Barb.
I hope mine are as good next Friday!

BunnyHare...
Good luck for next Friday then Jamps

Anita Carter...
Good news about your blood tests, Barb - must be a load off your mind :)
