Aries...
I love the colour look you have with all your pictures Graham, can you give

~~seadancer~~...
Interesting pics, Graham.
There should be more windfarms like that
to help create energy.

Graham...
The only problem is that in a small country like ours, to make an
appreciable difference to our power supplies, they would cover vast
tracts of beautiful open countryside... something we are fast running
out of.

me an indicator on how you achieve that? (I have photoshop 7 installed)

Graham...

~~seadancer~~...
Yes, Graham, that is a problem, indeed.
Here in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains of northern NY State,
conservationists object to even one phone cell tower amidst
the scenery. When the few are finally allowed, they must be
disguised to look like pine trees. Of course they never do. (g)
There's a photo of a proposed cell tower one at:
They call them "Frankenpines". LOL

Graham...
We have "disguised" phone masts here too. As you say, the disguise is
never very effective, I think they are better as obvious masts... as
long as they are positioned discretely ;-)
Hi Val.

I don't alter the colour as such. The more dramatic of this batch
were taken using a polarising filter.
I use Photoshop CS2 but 7 will do the same stuff, Most of the
adjustment is done with saturation, contrast and exposure. Another
useful tool is Shadow/Highlight which will lighten shadows in dark
areas and decrease highlights in bright areas. Then when all that is
done I resize and then sharpen the image using a touch of Unsharp
Mask... Odd isn't it? using unsharp mask to sharpen pictures... if
PS7 has Smart Sharpen under the Filters menu use that.

The most useful tip I can give is to play around with Photoshop...
experiment and glean stuff from various news groups... that's how I
learn.

Aries...
thanks Graham, advice saved and printed - much appreciated :)

~~seadancer~~...
You may be right about not disguising them.
The disguised ones look a bit tacky.
When someone is stuck on a mountain road in the wintertime,
they should be happy to have a working cell phone...
and not worry about the looks of the scenery!

Pingu...
I think I took some piccies of the one(s) you are talking of last time I was
in your area. In fact I have just remembered it was when I was in the area
with (oTTo), we breifly stopped there for piccies on the road home.

Rabbit...
And I bet you didn't know there was another lot close to those ones. You
just can't see them as clearly from here because of the hills though you can
see clearly two lots from the place I had the picnic last month.

I like wind farms. Why do people find them difficult to accept?
I can understand if you live within a few hundred yards of them because of
the constant noise, but otherwise I think they are fine. Incidentally -
nice piccies Graham. Can't see them in the other place any more. :(

Graham...
Thanks, FN. News group access is going to get harder all the while if
you rely on ISP's for them.

I see that Plusnet still carry loads of binaries groups, but not the two I
was using :(
Seems there's loads of ones with the name erotic (OK I'll wash my mouth out
with soap and water) in them. I suppose it's a sign of the times that they
will have loads of subscribers downloading, whereas a proper photography
group like the one I was subscribed to, do not. :(
