I had it transcribed so to speak. Lying in front of me and typed it
word for word into the sourcefile and then formatted as wanted it and
then saved it as a html-file thus making it into a webpage.

best,
Anders

Bram...
I'm still non the wiser as to whether you wrote it yourself. Looks an
interesting book by the way.
Now u can read or d-l a book I've written over into webformat called
The Pyrates. Today I typed the final pages and sent them off to ppl
whom I've shared the story with during the 18 months it has taken me to
do this. I have also put the story up on my site.

At the start of the project I had to go thru it all again (the first
six chapters) and edit in missing words, correct misspelled ones and
fill in missing sentences. That's why they are labelled _Finished.

So here u have it all. Read and enjoy...

Hope u'll have no problem opening the files up and, btw, if u have the
fonts OLD ENGLISH and PHYLLIS in your system (i e computor) the text

Ali...
Unlikely. Where did you get them from.

will look the way it did when I typed it into the source-files. They
are supposed to give the text a 17th century look.

Ali...
I see you've got the Main title as
The largest size available is 7. You should really specify more than one
font face, because there is no single face on all web-connected computers.
I've got 244 fonts on my system (way too many), including several 'Old
English' style, but not called 'OLD ENGLISH' or 'PHYLLIS'.

You should also have used an external style sheet, then you could have made
adjustments to the style in just one document instead of 40+. CSS style
sheets also give you more control than does.

Grey_Wolf...
I know. But I don't feel like going thru 405 pages again. Once is
enough.:)

Ali...
I know what you mean.

Grey_Wolf...
And I know I could have used a different technique in the actual
writing of it all but when I was tipped off about that technique I had
written most of the book already and didn't feel like doing it all over
again. Thanks for the tip tho. Next project will be different.:)

Ali...
A proper text editor (not a word processor) has a rather useful facility to
search and replace throughout a set of files, without you having to open
them. Effecively, with a project like yours it means you only need to change
one or two pages (but apply each change to the full set.)

Grey_Wolf...
Thanks, Ali. BTW, Do you have trouble in r e a d i n g the story? I

Ali...
With the phonetic spellings, yes. With seeing the text, no.

mean since u haven't got the fonts I chose it should show up in Times
New Roman.

Ali...
No, it shows up in Excalibur SF (or whatever I set as default - I changed it
to try for the right effect).

Can u tip me off to where to find such an editor then?

Ali...
It's had a few changes since I last updated - should be even better. :^)

Grey_Wolf...
Thanks. I have it on fav's. will dl it when I need it - and most likely
on my comp in town.

Bram...

Grey_Wolf...
Thanks. I'm sure you'll enjoyed it. I sure did and still do.:D.

As to the manner of working with the book here goes.

I will put it as clearly as I can. I had the BOOK lying in front of the
screen of my computor. The BOOK which is George MacDonald-Fraser's The
Pyrates. I'm sorry if I haven't been totally clear on the manner in
which I've worked on this book. But simple truth is that I have typed
the book over into digital form word for word and then formatted it in
Notepad and saved the files there in HTML form to make them into
webpages. And here is the result. If u've got the fonts OLD ENGLISH and
PHYLLIS in Windows FONTS folder, as I stated before, the result when
opening the files will be like they were written in the 17th century.

Bram...
Ah. I get you. Unfortunately I don't have the fonts installed on this
computer.

Best,
Anders
But this one has gave you plenty of practice and next time will be a lot
easier for you.
Well done

Best to you all,
Anders
