Been grouping for something from a long time ago (2002), back in
the days when dial up was the norm and there were still a lot of people
who just used payg to connect. In amongst a load of other stuff that
sidetracked me from what I was looking for, I found a thread where I was
talking to a young man I hadn't 'read' for a while :-)

The amount of time I'm currently online doesn't yet warrant a 24/7 flat
rate
connection. Last 3 months have averaged about 7-8 quid a month. I also
have
a connection to the net at w*rk and do a "little" surfing there.
hmm, wonder if he recognises himself :-)
I reckon maybe that a payg basis would probably break the bank now :-)

I can remember people ( me included) discussing whether Quip was worth
paying for 'cos they didn't use the connection much so could they justify
the cost.

LOL it made me giggle when I read it. It also made me giggle back then cos
I not only had a contract, I had an extra phone line put in cos the house
line was always engaged with a net connection :-) Broadband actually saved
em money cos I could do without the extra line!

Well my first flat rate dialup was with Quip (remember them?) and I
still get an occasional e-mail from them with my latest bill for £0.00.
Do you remember the connection problems we had to start with?

My first flat-rate dial-up was £12 pm (WH Smith), left them when they
insisted that we used a dialler rather than just give us the dial-up
numbers. Then went to Freeserve and on to Plusnet for my first BB.
The times they are a changin'
