Oh Saxman that must look so desolate and deserted. :(
I have 118 icons on my desktop and that's not including those on the quick
launch taskbar :)

Rabbit...
Oh here we go..... men and *mine is bigger than yours* :-)

WOW!!! You got some good stuff, FN. That's an active desktop
if there ever was one. Puts mine to shame. I bet Rabbit is filling up as I

I reckon that's one bet you won't win John. ;)

post. :-)

They aren't all shortcuts though, so many of them could be in neat folders
in My Docs :-)
For the record I've got 1 icon, the recycle bin

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
I like all those pretty icons, and no single one of them can ever feel
lonely can it. Apart from that if they were just folded away in My Docs,

Rabbit...
It's icons we are talking about not Petunias in an Onion Patch :-)

I'd have to either put a shortcut on the desktop anyway, 'cos I find it

Rabbit...
Sheesh --start--My Docs isn't a lot of jbex :-)

pmj...
& if you put the Icons that you *really* need & want to get to
quickly at all times onto the QuickLaunch Bar, then you only need
just *one* Click to Open them up!!!

quicker and more convenient to open them direct from the desktop.

I don't even have a monitor, just icon's on cardboard. :-)
John:

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Saves on the leccy bill I suppose. LOL

pmj...
& why have you still got that Icon on your Desktop then?

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Who knows how their minds w*rk pmj?

Rabbit...
Please define * their* in this context :-)

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
You obviously know what I mean or you wouldn't have bothered to try and
embarrass me by posing the question.

Rabbit...
I just wanted you to clarify that you weren't casting nasturtiums at the

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Now would I ? ;)

Rabbit...
Yes but you then run quickly and hide :-)

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
I seem to recollect you saying *I couldn't hide* :)

Rabbit...
You can't but you keep trying ;-)

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
I'm always *trying*. There's those who say *very* trying at times. :)

Rabbit...
Now who would say a thing like that :-)

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
I wonder? ;)

female mind ;-)

Surely there are other Icons which would be more useful than that,
if you do want to have an Icon still on your Desktop?

Rabbit...
Now I'm sure one of the techies ( probably pmj) said a while ago that the
desktop wasn't a good place to store documents, except on a temporary basis.
Can't remember why but it made sense at the time.

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Your definition of *temporary* probably isn't the same as mine. LOL

Rabbit...
I'm afraid to ask ;-)

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
And I'd be afraid to answer. :)

pmj...
Yep, there are various reasons why it's not a good idea to store
too much stuff on the Desktop.

It's supposed to be (i.e. is designed to be) used for "work in
progress" type stuff & not as a permanent (long term) storage space.

Ali...
But it's just another folder (or two), so having real documents isn't goting
to harm anything, is it?

& the idea is to have *Icons* (Shortcuts to things) on the Desktop,
rather than storing the actual Files themselves on it.

Aries...
and we all do what suits us best anyway, don't we :)

pmj...
Yes.

But many people do what (they think) suits them best, without
actually knowing the implications of what they are doing & whether
or not they are causing (or laying themselves open to) probs.

Aries...
True, I think LOL
