Yet another web-search service kicks off today. One which could land them in
hot water with the zealots of the music industry.
In the same week that record label Warner/Chappel Music Ltd. sent a
cease and desist letter to pearLyrics, causing that useful little
utility to be withdrawn from circulation, web-search introduces Music
Search.
It hasn't made it to web-search.co.uk yet but you can find it here

Ta ray, interesting and handy to find the lyrics in one place.
|
It makes it easier for users to find music-related content such as
lyrics and track listings, as well as music retailers and download
sites, including the Itunes Music Store.

I wonder if Apple has a hand in this ?

The lyrics feature could potentially land web-search in hot water with the
record labels, which have been turning their attention to Web sites that
offer unlicensed music scores and lyrics. Lauren Keiser, president of
the Music Publisher's Association (MPA), told the BBC earlier this week
that his group plans to launch its first campaign against such sites
early next year. Some labels have already begun.

The rot set in IMHO when they (big business) forced the midi sites to close.
I mean why ? I can understand MP3 or even WAVs but who is downloading Midis
going to harm ?

We watch with interest. web-search is bigger than PearLyrics and much bigger
than most of the lyric sites on the internet, which are mostly fan sites
written by amateurs.
