In response to the strong complaint I emailed to Goldfish requesting
that they phoned me instead of me having to use their 870 number,I
received a reply requesting my telephone number and postcode which I
duly provided. Did they call me? like H they did.. so today I called
them on an 0845 number only to be told that mine is one of 5000 or so
cards possibly compromised at a Shell service station and that it will
be up to 14 days before I receive a replacement card..

LOL some day ( maybe next year) I am gonna learn how to type!

LOL!
:-)
I assumed that "loff" was just one of your strange Northern/Midland
type of Words that you often seem to come out with!
:-)
& I presumed that it meant what we (down here in the South)
call a "Loaf" - i.e. a Loaf of Bread!
:-)

Getting there Boo... Not quite on the breadline yet though??

I pay my BB bill via the goldfish card and a short while ago my BB
account was suspended for non-payment... Doh!!! Fortunately BT was very
understanding and agreed to lift the suspension and send me a giro slip
for payment...

Strange one that as BT haven't accepted giro transfer payments for a
few years. As from the 1st July no-one will be able to use a giro
transfer slip as the service is being cancelled. Giro transfer was
the last remaining link to the old Girobank system. :-((
Wrinklie One =?iso-8859-1?Q?=A9?=...

That has all changed now cos 2 new cards turned up this am so a phone
call got that sorted... At the same time I negotiated a £7 pm discount
on my BB plan...

Is this the same thing as "bank giro credit" ?
John the R-T...

That's the one. Three different sized boxes alongside the amount due.

They are two different things, but both are usually on the payslip.

The facility to transfer money by posting the slip to A&L will
disappear on 1st July. I've just realised that A&L still use the old
Girobank postcode of GIR 0AA. So that will be the final link. Wonder
if they will ever drop that?
If you bank with A&L (formerly National Girobank/Girobank/Giro) you
will get a new cheque book shortly. 24 cheques, 7 deposit forms. Old
books used to be 24 cheques and 7 transfer/deposit forms.

I have a couple of sore points about the A&L. The second one is just
annoying, I detest the way their promo leaflets are stuck in just about
every magazine/TV guide but more importantly I walked out of A&L with
several accounts when they gave me cash when their pooters were down , from
an account which require two signatures but with only one signature [1]
Personally I wouldn't trust A&L with a budgie let alone my cash.
[1] I only had a withdrawal slip with one signature. Their *excuse* was that
they *knew* me. That was an excuse but not a reason as they had no idea if I
had a gun to my back.
John the R-T...
|
We don't have a local branch of A&L. I'm with them as they took over
Girobank. Previously to that I was with Midland. Left them because
(in the days of no account numbers) they credited any deposits I made
to another person of the same name. Any cheques he wrote were
deducted from my account. :-((
|
Ali...
|
What does having a gun to your back have to do with getting maney from a two
signature account with only one signature?
I thought the purpose of requiring two signatures was to prevent one person
emptying the account and disappearing, leaving the other holding the baby,
figuratively and possibly literally; so knowing you is no excuse.

No I don't bank with them at all.
The giro slips are issued by HMG Inland Revenue.
They are in books of 12 for them to receive monthly
payments of Tax and NICS from employers.
Just typical for them to issue a book where 10 out of 12 slips would
be any use :-)

circle, is operated by all the major banks, you can go into any branch and
pay your bill in cash, or pay all your bills with a single cheque (to the
bank).
|
|
As I use those to make payments regularly.
John the R-T...
Will I have to find a different method?
John the R-T...
|
|
Will I be staying with Goldfish??? I don't think so!!!
John the R-T...
|
Why not?

Because two cards arriving together 14 days before they were supposed to
is a further illustration of their efficiency. I full expect to receive
another one within the next 14 days :-)
