The chocolateer returns.
Welcome home.
I hope that you ate well during your adventures.
We have been suffering the worse dearth in recorded history.

On the up-side, salmonella cases are down :-)

Splodge...
They should rename it the Rocky Chocolateer, andon. I've got some lovely
piccies of their puddings:)))

Glad to hear you had a good time, Splodge.
Welcome home. I'd like to have the teddy bear
named, Jasper. Is Jasper a place? Name rings a bell.

Splodge...
Jasper is a town in the Canadian Rockies, Sea, and very nice it is too.

Sorry, Anita wasted no time in bagging the bear lol
Thanks Barb. I really am off to bed now:))

That was a great jolliday. The best flight out of all six of them was the

Hi Jan. Glad to have you back safe and sound.

I will just have a cookie or two thanks

Rutherford lookalike, right down to the hat, clothes, handbag and stockings.

Hope to do them tomorrow, Smokey. I've solved the read-only problem, thank
goodness.
Splodge

Sounds like a really `great` holiday Splodge. I was watching a BBC programme
on Bears last week and the black bears where
in Whistler, some lovely scenery in that programme.

Shame about the Mounties! those maple creams sound lovely, if there are any
left, thanks.
I expect it will take a few days to get back to normality!

Splodge...
My OH said he'd looked at that prog too, and couldn't see me Jackie:))) I
was disappointed not to see any bears at all this visit. I reckon Boo scared
'em off.
Splodge

jackie...
he!he! Boo probably brought them all back home with her!!

Sightseeing with Judy in Ottawa for a week was the start. She's a great
hostess and took me to so many super places. Then a fantastic Rocky
Mountaineer train trip to Jasper and Whistler. The new route to Whistler
goes through a canyon which defies description. Lovely lakes of blue and
green water, waterfalls within a few feet of the train windows - it fair
takes yer breath away. Well, it does if you've had one of their lovely
lunches with unlimited wine.......

Parrotfish...
How unusual ;o)

More importantly, I didn't fall down at all, didn't break any bones, and,
sadly, didn't get a seaplane pilot who wanted his joystick held.

Parrotfish...
Good news & bad news, then ?

Judy didn't think I could be trusted to be given a Mountie, but she did
introduce me to a few of 'em in the RCMP Mess bar one evening. We sat at the
bar sipping margaritas in a most ladylike manner and decided not to take a
Mountie home as there were too many forms to fill in first and neither of us
were prepared to sling him over our shoulder.

Now I'm trying to sort out me photies, but they all seem to be on the CD as

Ali...
Everything on a CD is "read-only" , it's the nature of CDs (except CD-RW).
You can copy to your hard drive then change to "Read-Write" in Properties,
or just open the pics in an application and "Save As" when you've made
whatever changes you wanted to do.

pmj...
Yep, when a File is Saved to a CD, it has the "ReadOnly" Attribute
Set, in the File Properties.

Which makes sense, really, when you think about it!...
:-)

A CD (unless it's a ReWritable CD) can only be Written *once* - you
can't (directly) Edit any Files on it, so the "ReadOnly" Attribute
is Set, which tells any Application Opening it, that it can't be
written back to. (You would have to Save it to something else, such
as a USB Memory Card or a Hard Disk, if you wanted to Edit it)_

"read-only", so I'll post some tomorrow when I'm awake. I've had three

pmj...
When you Copy Files from a CD to a Hard Disk, normally, the
"ReadOnly" Attribute is retained on them.

If you want to Edit any of the Files, either Open them Up & then Save
them with a *different* File Name (or to a different Folder)...

Or - Just Select the files (using CTRL+A or Clicking on the first one
& then Shift Clicking on the last one, Or using Shift+Space or using
Menu>Edit>Select All, for all of them, or CTRL+Click (or CTRL+Space)
for Selecting some of them, or whatever is your favourite way of
Selecting stuff) & then (While they are still Selected) RightClick
on any of the Selected Files (or use the Keyboard Shortcut ALT + Enter)
to bring up the "Properties" Dialog Box.

The Properties for the bunch of Files show up, similar to the Properties
for just one File.

On the General Tab it says how many Files (&/or Folders) are Selected
& the "Type: " will be shown as the FileType, if they are all the same
File Extension, or as "Multiple Types" if they are different.

It also gives the (Total) File Size & the Size that they occupy on
the Disk - which will be different cos of the Disk Cluster overhead
in the File System, or if the Files are Compressed.

Then, there's a Section of the Dilaog Box labelled "Attributes"
If they are all Marked as "ReadOnly" there will be a Tick in the Box.
& if *some* of them are, then the Box will have a sort of "Shadow" on
it, to indicate that some are & some aren't.

If you UNTick the Box, then *all* the Files that were Selected will
have the "ReadOnly" Attribute Removed.

nights of no sleep, so desperately need my bed. Thank you Anita, Judy, and

pmj...
I hope this makes sense when you finally wake up!
& that you can UnSet the ReadOnly Attribute on the Files OK.

& Post back if you aren't sure about it, or need more Info/explanation.

any others who posted about my travels.

pmj...
BTW - You lost your bet!
:-)

You bet we wouldn't be able to find the Places you mentioned on the
Map!!!
Well, have a look at my Reply to the Post & yo uwill see the URL
showing them.
