Fish feeding.......
Am I right in thinking that fish won't feed in the dark? I'm rapidly
approaching the time of year when I leave for work in the dark, and arrive
home from work in the dark. This presents a feeding problem. Thoughts??

If this is indeed correct and I don't know, then I suggest feeding them
in the morning so the food will be waiting for them when they wake up
:-)
But hang on a mo that can't be right that they don't feed in the dark,
because otherwise people wouldn't go all night fishing with some
considerable success.

The time they stop feeding is in the colder months, They don't eat once the
Temp reaches an average of 10C or below

Thanks Terry. Water temp is 20/68 atm. Have ordered some wheatgerm food for
the colder months.

My neighbour feeds his fish at dusk, and they come up to feed then.
AsTerry says you shouldn't feed them when the water temperature drops below
10°C. Apparently the food would remain undigested in their gut if it's too
cold. Also below that temperature they won't need much since they won't be
expending much energy. What the do need they will get from the natural
sources within the pond. OTOH there are automatic food dispensers
available, and 7 or 14 day feeder blocks.
