Has anyone got the Canon Lide 25 scanner ? I am thinking about buying it, I

Almost certainly: Canon wouldn't manufacture them if they couldn't be
sold.

only want it to scan the occasional document and photo's. The price is about
right approx £36.
Any opinions or recommendations welcomed :-)

I did have a Canon LiDe type Scanner (but I know have one with
a normal "Cold Cathode" Light Source)
The LiDe Scanners are generally pretty good, for most normal
Scanning - of *Pictures* (& Paper/Books/Pages) etc.
But they don't do Transparency (or Slide/Negative) Scans.
Also, they don't do Scans of 3D Objects very well (if at all)
So, if you want to Scan Transparencies (Slides/Negatives)
&/or 3D Objects, then a LiDe type Scanner won't be much use.

We have been to CCL computers and bought one late this afternoon, just been
trying it out, it seems to do everything I need it for very well, I wanted
it to replace our old scanner which wouldn't w**k with Windows XP when it
was installed.
I don't need it for slides, a few years ago we actually prejected all our
old slides on to a screen and Hubby Jack filmed them with his camcorder,
and put them on vhs tapes, that's another job recording them on to DVD's on
our new dvd recorder.
All this new technology is mind boggling LOL
Thank's PMJ

I've got a CanoScan 5200F and have been very pleased with it. It has a
slide attachment which enabled me to scan in some old slides. Also came
with a decent s/w bundle including OmniPage OCR.
I tried to get 64 bit drivers and Canon said they won't be producing them
- only worth thinking about if you plan to 'upgrade' to a 64 bit OS during
the scanner's lifetime.
