MCC...
Good morning everyone from a decidedly wet and windy Cornwall. Having had a

it

would seem that you are all similarly inflicted. :-)

biggeordie...
Good morning....and to everyone else....

It is sunshine here but there is some heavy clouds about.

Rabbit...
It wasn't as wild and windy here last night as the press made out with their
front page headlines, yes it was a bit windy but not what I call bad. Hardly
any breeze about this morning, the BYT is shining through a mixture of grey,
white and the occasional black. It still feels a bit damp outside but an
improvement on yesterday 'cos at least it's not raining.
Good morning one and all

Anita Carter...
Good morning Mike, good morning everybody,

Well, it rained all through the night until about 6.30 am and it was very
windy too.
Now it is a glorious day, blue skies and bright sunshine - still a little
chilly in a not so strong wind.

Hope all are well, and that Russell makes it home in time to give his mother
the boost that she needs,

Special thoughts this morning for Tyke and his family. Theirs is not good
news.

According to my page-a-day desktop calendar it's 35 years today since
decimal currency was introduced. I dunno about the rest of you but I still

Ali...
It is indeed! For some reason I don't remember it well, though I've always
been able to quote the date.

find myself thinking in £.S.D sometimes. I look at the price of something
and convert it into 'old' money and think that the whole thing was a
rip-off :-) Seventeen shillings (85 pence) for a loaf of bread -

Ali...
35 years of inflation make me think all prices are a rip-off anyway.

I stopped converting when florin and shilling pieces were finally withdrawn.

Ali...
It is! I thought 46p (9/2) expensive, so I bought at 12p (2/6).
Half a crown for a loaf of bread! Scandalous!

scandalous!

Rabbit...
I stopped converting money a while ago but I can't come to terms with
measurements. I know what a yard and an inch etc looked like and I could
check easy enough with my arm and thumb respectively but I cannot *see* a
metre or cm and I don't know of any handy guides either. I could *feel* the
weight of a pound of something but I still can't *feel* the weight of a
kilo.

Foxy at w**k...
Couldn't have said it better myself Sandra :-)

Have a good day.

noreen...
Morning Mike ,must say it is a long time since thought in £-S-D,hadn't
realised it was so long since
decimal currency. When I did i always felt ripped off, so found it easier to
go on with it.

Thinking of Russell and family, hope he has better news.

Bill P...
Mornin Each.
The sun is looking under grey and yellow clouds very strange light this
morn.

Just read Tykes post so sad.

I still can not estimate weight or length in metric.

Bill P

noreen...
Morning Bill I cannot convert money either, and metric is a no no .
Have a good day my thought's are with Russell.

jackie...
Good morning Bill, the sun has just come out here now after all that rain.

I can't work out weight and length in metric either!! I do just know the
weight of a kilo!!

biggeordie...
Have a nice day everyone.

Foxy at w**k...
Morning Mike and everyone. We have strong gusty winds and rain here, Not
good for the roofers.

Anita Carter...
You appear to be experiencing the weather we had last night ;)

Foxy at w**k...
It's calming as I type Anita

Anita Carter...
It is quite mild out this morning, Jen - really a nice day :)

Flyiñg Ñuñ 2°°6 +...
Bright, shiny, dry mild and very gusty. Got all the washing dried.
Lot's of rain overnight though, so garden is a bit soaked - bet those weeds
are loving it. :)

I try not to convert Mike it makes me sad

jackie...
Good morning Mike, it has been a very wild night, rain and gale force winds
and we could hear the sea crashing on the shore.I think it has died down a
little now.

Decimalisation was certainly a rip-off and I too convert to `old money`.
I also think back to our wages and prices when we were young and the price
of houses now!!!Teds wage as a Postman back in 1954 was £7 a week but we
were able to save a little on that !!!!

noreen...
Morning Jackie quite a mild day and sunshining so that makes you feel
better, mind you it could be a lot different when you get out side.;-)

My hubby's was about the same Jackie and I had my Son born in 1954 so it was
very hard.

If you convert to old money you will always think you are being ripped off,
I have a friend that does
it all the time ;-)))))
